The Dems broke the Senate forever when they used the nuke option to get the emperor's nominees confirmed . Schmucky Chucky Schumer now claims he regrets the decision ;but I did not hear him go to the Senate floor to argue against it at the time .He only belly aches about it now when he sees that what goes around comes around .

Schumer regrets Dems triggering 'nuclear option' | TheHill

The Dems broke the Senate forever when they ramrodded major society changing legislation in the dead of night, on Christmas Eve ,through the use of budget reconciliation parliamentary tricks . Don't you remember ? The bill had to be passed so we could find out what was in it ? Don't you remember that there were no Republican votes at all in favor of the society altering law ?

So spare me the tears about the destruction of the Senate . Maybe their rules were quaint and arcane . But Madison was 100% correct when he said that the Senate was created to be a "necessary fence" against the "fickleness and passion" that tended to influence the attitudes of the general public and members of the House of Representatives. It was the Dems that destroyed the world's greatest deliberative body .

Actually the Senate was fatally weakened with the passage of the 17th amendment . But that is a different tale.
