“Scorpions drummer jailed for insulting Islam in Dubai airport,” By Salam Al Amir,The National April 30, 2014 (thanks to DJW)
DUBAI // A member of the heavy metal band Scorpions was yesterday sentenced to a month in jail for insulting Islam and lifting his middle finger at Muslims at an airport.
Almost at the top of the article

I would have brought a tub of lard and smeared it on the escalators and door handles and just about everywhere else I could get away with.

Okay thanks, I missed it but both of you have embellished the facts to fit a narrative. He must be a Muslim right winger.

Who embelished on facts.. Journalists NEVER embelish on facts... right... everything is always exactly that way its portrayed by Journalists everywhere.

1,800 years of history back what I said about them. So does the news from the last few years.

1800 years, let us get straight who you are talking about here, the Muslims began in the seventh century, before that you had the Christians and the Pagans and it is just possible journalists didn't exist. Eighteen hundred years ago it was the Pagans who got the bad press on the word of mouth network

Let's get the numbers straight. 1800 years ago the Arabs were worshiping Zoroaster, not Allah. Their barbarism, however, has PRE - historic roots.

I think that was a typo... since we are in the 21's century and that was the 7th century, I should have typed in 1400 rather than 1800.

Really... when was there ever peace in their history of existence towards other religions? 1,400 years their mindset hasn't advanced much beyond the cavemans. Outside of dressing a little better than cavemen... and some of them learning how to read and write... I don't see much advancement even before that time before they got stuck in their personal "Groundhog Day" where nothing ever changes...

look, I agree with you about muslims, they have been brainwashed into believing the end justifies the means, but we must check our facts, they are not the only people who have shown violent tendencies in the past 2000 years, the history of your own nation is tainted with violence and conquest and I'm not certain you have yet thrown off that yoke.

getting back to the piece, al qaeda is exhibiting every more violent tendencies, and is having some success in syria and this is something you are prepared to standby and watch, and yet you were willing to invade iraq on a pretext which is no less valid for syria

Well, this is of Obamas making... the Dems through hook and by crook got a pantywaste into office twice... not even a two bit lunatic dictator of a 4th world country (third world countries are better off than North Korea is) is the slightest bit afraid of him.

Obamas a much larger threat to Americans than he is to anyone else.

Thus what is happening in Syria has happened.

you blame Obama for Syria, I expect the connection in your mind is Gadaffi, I suppose Syria is the result of your interference in Arab politics but those guys never were very stable at the best of times.

No if you want to declare someone limp wristed, you should do that for the UN

You don't think a lot of these people are doing things just to rub it in Obamas face (like Putin for example) knowing he's a spineless wuss appologizing to everyone EXCEPT the people in his own country he's been screwing?

THe UN has any credibility? I don't think anyone believes they are anything but a federation of blow hards with no credibility.

Yes my point regarding the UN, I really must find out how to turn on the sarcasim font, however it is your interference in the politics of others that creates the situations we have. I doubt Moscow precipitated the Syrian insurrection, but I'm not so sure about Washington. The republicans set out from the outset to undermine Obama, they just couldn't accept the judgement of the electorate that they didn't want more of the same. He could have done a better job but he has deescalated Iraq and Afghanistan even though it cannot be called victory. I think his involvement with Libya was a mistake but then we have seen a long line of mistakes from American presidents, he has not repeated the mistake in Syria and I certainly hope he doesn't repeat it in the Ukraine.

I see he is going to get some spine regarding Nigeria, if you want an example of spinelessness then you have one in that place. Whatever anyone thinks we are reaching the point where there needs to be boots on the ground to defeat radical Islam wherever it operates. That includes some no go zones like Pakistan. Mali was a good indication of what can be accomplished

As long as we are expected to pay for almost everything... we have the right to put our noses into it along with everything else we want. And we do pay most of the bill for the UN. Along with most foregn aid...

Personally I'd keep every dime here... throw the UN out... and let every third world country with too many people and not enough food... starve.

    Muslims behave badly all over
310 killed in latest Boko Haram attack; kidnapped girls still missing - CNN.com

be thankful your muslims don't behave like this, but they might if you involve yourselves in this conflict.

It's a conundrum, evil cannot be allowed to exist, and there can be no doubt Boko Harum is evil, however, it is the responsibility of the people of the region to throw off this yoke. Unless they are prepared to make an all out fight, outside interference won't be the answer. It must be understood that in Nigeria you have an artifical pairing of peoples who would not naturally have formed a nation, another legacy of british imperialism. Now I remember when this place tore itsself apart in a civil war.

So what appears to be a religious war is also a racial war which may explain why Nigeria appears slow to act or inept in its response

If the Muslims actually believe the Nigerian nutcase was all that evil... they would have him bumped off. But has anyone heard of any attempts by Muslims to do so yet? I suspect they support him.

well smoothy they might, or maybe 50% might until it is their children who are targetted. Nigeria is big enough to look after its own problems and it doesn't need outside interferrence. This is a bill you don't have to pay, an intervention you don't have to make, a bridge too far.

I agree.. there is only TWO reasons Obama is sticking his nose in... they are black and its Africa.

Africa is like the middle east.....they don't want things to change.....they are the way they are, because thats what they created. And they should be left to wallow in the muck, it is after all muck they worked hard and long to create.

THey were far better off under Colonial rule....but they wanted to do things their way....and they have. And the results are evident they don't have a clue about what they are doing...and they never learned a damn thing while others were doing it much better.

it wasn't called the dark continent just because the people were black, they are better left alone, they will sort it out eventually and we don't want to see all that blood. For africans ethnic cleansing is a way of life. If Obama thinks he can change that he might be like that nut who started Liberia, a failed experiement in black liberation
