A person might be tempted with same sex attraction and yet not act on them. That person would not be a practicing homosexual and would not be guilty of sin. The person who DOES act on them would be guilty. The same is true of temptations to adultery, porn, stealing, murdering, and so forth.

Do you mean when did I choose to respond to the desire within me for sex with a woman? Well, I chose that when I got married. Both before and since then I have passed up some good opportunities to exercise my heterosexual urges. So the moral of the story is this. We all make choices. We can sin in many ways. Having a desire for something is not an excuse for doing it. So the man who desires sex with a 12 year old girl has no excuse for pursuing it. The man who wants to cheat repeatedly on his wife has no excuse. The woman who wants to sleep with her sister or spend all of her money on herself has no excuse. The key thing is to find that which we love and treasure more than our desires, and in my case that treasure is Jesus. I certainly hope I value Him far more than any temptations I have.
