    There has always been guns in this country. What we did not have is the over prescription of opioid drugs . The correlation(not a definitive cause and effect) of the popularity in their prescription and what has become inarguably a more violent society is compelling including the rise in mass killing.

    That's a really good point. When I was in high school, boys would bring their hunting guns to school (in their trucks/cars) so they could go straight to the fields after school. No one ever thought about shooting up the place. Many schools used to have shooting clubs. So called assault rifles are in most homes in Switzerland, and yet they don't have mass shootings. So even a little thought would lead a reasonable person away from pointing the finger simply at the number of guns available. There are clearly several other dynamics at work.

    Also, teen boys and young-adult males are entranced by video games like "Grand Theft Auto". Most of the gameplay revolves around driving and shooting. Oh, I wanna do that too!
