WG . All I have to say about the players 'quitting ' is remember the strike of 1987 . It lasted about 2 weeks before it fell apart because the fans went to games played by scabs ;and the players realized they had more to lose with every paycheck they missed. When the owners start losing sponsor dollars you'll see how quickly they'll end this . I believe there is a correlation between these demonstrations during the Anthem ,and the drop in viewership the league has experienced in the last year + .

I don't care who is getting rich. I know the athletes who make it to the top professional levels get paid very well .... much more than they would in almost every other profession .God bless them . Their career's are short and they make the ownership lots of money . Theirs is one of the few professions where they get paid close to their worth .There are very few of them that can make it to where they perform at such high levels . They are the elites in their sport ,and are the product that gets marketed . They deserve every dollar.
What I want as a consumer is a few hours so I can watch a game that I love ,and where I don't have to deal with the issues of the day .That is my biggest objection to this whole protest thing . If they don't get why many people object to them using the anthem and the flag as a prop for their protest then they are just as clueless as those who don't "get " what their protest is about .

I'll stipulate that herr Donald threw gas on the fire this weekend and made the protest a protest about his inane comments . Still if they are looking to win hearts and minds to their cause then they should find a better way to protest .
We need to take a breath away from the things that divide us every once in a while ,and football was until recently one of those things that united us in a single purpose . That is why Super Bowl Sunday has become almost a national holiday . We used to be able to do that with pop culture /movies etc also . But it has been a long time since I felt that I could watch a movie without feeling that we are being judged by the elites in Hollywierd . I resent that the fields of NFL stadiums are becoming ground zero for cultural differences . The only color that used to matter on the NFL fields was the color of the uniforms .

How many protests and marches do you need before we get some action on those INNOCENT black guys murdered by the cops? I won't even conflate that lack of justice with black on black crime, or the murder rate of Chicago, a bi product of decades of economic deprivation. This is not hurting the players in the pocket book so there is no consequences to them . It is hurting the teams plenty by allowing this nonsense to continue . For what is a very mild disruption of the national anthem, I fail to see how that indicates disrespect for the military and/or American values.
