What? You think Trump or repubs would be dumb enough to put building his wall in a bill to keep the government running?

maybe...also defense spending ,more money for immigration enforcement ,possibly Planned Parenthood funding can all be on the table . herr Donald doesn't want to wait for October to start his projects .

First, he needs to make a plan....That's what great businesspeople do.

He waited for years to build a Trump Tower in Moscow, and he's still waiting.

Look you guys staple all sorts of things to the bills you pass, it seems it is the only way to get something unpopular started

Those are bills that die an anonymous death without enough support. Even the repubs in the gulf states aren't keen on a wall at this point.

So you think a wall isn't as good as a fence, Dump made a mistake, he shouldn't have called it a wall, just a big frontier security fence. When he said wall everyone visualised the Great Wall of China or the wall in Palestine but a twenty foot security fence you could see through would do just the same job, built on deep foundations of course

On which side of the Rio Grande? If it's on the US side, we give up the river to Mexico. We will prevent animal migration, family visits between the US and Mexico, will limit/end agricultural and business dealings and irrigation, will present legal and logistical challenges. And no matter how tall the wall, someone will bring a taller ladder.

So build it up the middle of the river, just because it is there doesn't mean you loose the river. There is a point where climbing walls or fences becomes very difficult, that is why they are built but putting it in the river makes it more difficult to tunnel. Family visits happen through border crossings with appropriate id checks, etc, irrigation just involves a pipe, and business can be conducted by phone internet or crossing at border crossings. The idea isn't to stop trade or normal legal relationships but to stop illegal traffic.

What I see here is an unwillingness to solve problems or to think laterally

His wall won't be built . I saw a 50 acre housing project shot dead because of the presence of spotted newts .I saw a gas fired electric plant shot down over the presence of timber rattlers . 3,000 miles of wall will find 30,000 environmental ,and other issues that will prevent it's completion. Besides ,just the threat of actual enforcement of the law is doing the desired effect .

Trump is aggressively doing his thing now, but he ain't the dictator he thinks he is, and while he makes hay now, he will face a growing resistance to his BS!

You mean he spends more time in Florida than the White House? Obama was hardly an emperor as repubs opposed everything, and did shut the government down, but we shall see how successful Trump is in moving the right wing agenda along as his majority wants.

What you're surprised that Herr Donald has opposition to his plans? Who knew it wouldn't be as easy as he said it would? He will have to do more than just run his mouth and round up Mexicans. You know the dems are going to try and make him a one term president, and take his majority from him next year.

Come on Tom, you have seen this before, and really, nothing has changed but the names.

Don't think natural barriers are at issue Tom, here's a thought, perhaps you need more of them, a new project on the Rio Grande, might be less opposition to that

So much for the idea of "land of the free, and the home of the brave"! More like scared sheep being shepherded by a lazy drunk.

You don't really believe that stuff, that was then, when men were men, not wimps.. There is a simple solution, conquer Mexico again then you can build a shorter wall on your new border, think of all the lovely taxes you will collect and all that cheap unorganised labour
