Republicans love to obstruct, and do nothing, while they holler in front of a camera, and get paid for it. Then the right wing media completely ignores the profits of the 1%, so called job creators, and blame the lazy middle class victims of the GFC for getting caught in the middle. And while they rake in these profits without hiring or paying people a living wage the conservatives holler louder while they continue to cut benefits for the poor and unemployed and give corporate welfare to the rich.

You take away workers rights, and give the boss all the rights to tell you what to do, when, and how, and for how much and turn around and holler about the part time jobs and the lousy job the government you hate is doing. Like he is doing it all by himself and the rest of the congress is doing such a great bang up for the rest of us.

Conservatives and their spin have no credibility in light of no better plan than destroy their own government and country in the process, and blame everyone else for this failure to progress, accomplish, and achieve. The sad part is CATSMINE is your link shows the epitome of spin and not reality that the American people are being yet again ripped off by the big money, and conservatives as always hold the door open and let the robbers get away while YOU direct the posse the other way.

Keep serving your corporate masters, while they pay you like slaves and dictate what YOUR rights are. It's the free market system they invented and manipulate to make sure they keep their RIGHT to be rich and tell you what to do.

Authoritarians love to decry risk takers succeeding while sucking up to big business political donors, claiming to be for "the little people" or "the middle class" in front of cameras while on their way to $5000.00 a plate fundraisers. The next morning they go back to telling citizens what new regulation they've dreamed up in their Pinot Noir hangovers.

Informed voting is the solution to that kind of thing you know. Elected officials should be our servants, not the other way around. All this campaign money makes that rather difficult though.

Simplest way to do that is term limits. Then it won't matter how much you spend trying to buy an election (see Thad Cochran).

An informed electorate should be responsible for limiting the terms of their representatives.

I find it hilariously that the old dog in Mississippi outsmarted the big mouth bigot. Its telling that the objection was that black people voted in the republican primary. Typical of bigotry. I doubt he learned his lesson but watch for the bigots to change the voting rules really quick, or try.

Yes. The American electorate is so inundated with information being marketed to them that they tune it out like commercial ads until election time. Then they pick up the buzzwords used by the opponents (pick one: racist, misogynist, old, heartless, mean-spirited, there's others) and vote for the one that promises more free stuff or with the least mud still clinging.

Talking about an informed citizenry is as silly as telling teenagers not to have sex.

Edit: They are informed about culture, but not policy. Those of us that post here and can back up our statements are not just the exception, we are rarities.

I think there are many of us in many places who are not fully informed on the ramifications of policy. What we essentially are doing is saying yes or no to a question of; are you in favour of a law to....................... and do you expect that I might represent you to do that. Beyond that it is all a nonsense

In your carping way, NK, you have a valid point. It's a deeply ingrained cultural issue brought on by the 24 hour news cycle. News availability makes it possible to be informed about policies, but it also requires a ratings scramble that leads to people being more concerned about seeing Rihanna's bruises or Katy Perry's panties (edit: or Paris Hilton's lack thereof) than about boring stuff like full time jobs declining while part time slots rise.

It's more that your news is geared towards being a sounding board for their target audience. So each side only watched their own propaganda which acts as an echo chamber. Very divisive way and you're right, it takes away from focusing on real issues, like ones at home, or trying to change the system for all americans.
