The other 49 don't matter? Gives new meaning to the term "Lone Star state."

Good Lord, you're impossible. When you buy groceries do you replace everything or just focus on what you need?

The Republicans will need more than Texas, and Texas can lead the way.

Texas is the state with strong religious concerns about family and abortion and contraception, and probably has something to say about immigration and gun control. Texas used to be a leader, so why not now, heading into the 2014 and 2016 elections?

The GOP is doing a lot behind the scenes and on the ground, I was just making a point that the reason some don't see much activity is they aren't battleground territories. Chicago wasn't going to vote Romney, so why waste resources there. The Texas Panhandle wasn't going to vote Obama, so why waste resources there? About the only presidential ads I saw last year were on the news or online, no one spent money where I live it was safe GOP territory.

The best thing the GOP could do would be to end the practice of open primaries. All we get is marshmallow RHINO's with that process. Close the primaries to all but registered Republicans .

Lots of Latinos here and legal/illegal immigrants and women and students and new voters -- no interest in changing hearts and minds?

So you think we should all take Dem positions? Changing hearts and minds means convincing them that voting for positions we believe in is in their best interests. Hard to argue though against the Dem position of "freebees " .

No. I'm talking about what the Republicans used to be all about -- family values and God/mom/apple pie and education improvements that actually work without spending gobs of money and team spirit building a nation together. Want more?

The 2014 House and Senate campaigns already started. The Dems are already out of the starting blocks with a strategy and ground game set. The GOP is running scared (with some exceptions) with no strategy in sight and no plan to thwart voter fraud (Obama's rhetoric masking the cheating done by the Dems ) .

They cannot expect a 2010 turnout again. Back in 2009-2010 the Tea Party and other conservative groups were on the streets in rallies and protests. They mustered one million people in rallies in Washington in August 2010. These shows of real hard working Americans made the difference in 2010 mid terms. Where did they all go in 2012? Where are they now? They were no shows at the polls because the Repubics fielded a candidate the base couldn't support.
I'm pretty sure the GOP is toast as a party ;going the way of the Whigs.

I expect no objections to those voter ID laws that were so 'hastily' put in place last year, right?

I was thinking more along the lines of building and encouraging two-parent families that sit down to at least one meal a day and actually talk with each other, play with each other, even pray with each other. I was also thinking of working with schools to help with early education and reading and learning the basics and generally one-on-one tutoring with not only peers but also caring adults. Like, you know, reestablishing Republican values in our society instead of ranting helplessly about the evil other political party. Be proactive!

Good luck with that, I said children were better off with a mom and a dad and that was considered hate speech.

And what happens when that's not possible?

Asking the wrong question, I'm not going down that road to strawmanville. The right question is why doesn't the left promote what is proven to work?
