It IS true, that 40% of Americans don't pay federal INCOME taxes... But, they PAY plenty of taxes.... They pay employment taxes, payroll taxes, unemployment taxes, city sales taxes, county sales taxes, excise taxes, gasoline taxes, telephone taxes, highway tolls, drivers license fees, license plate fees, property taxes, and a few others that don't come to mind.

Aren't you glad I'm here to fix what you post?

I Said Federal INCOME taxes... after all they love to put their hand out for FEDERAL HANDOUTS.

Who do you think pays for those? Funny how that 40% is quick to jump on others to pay everything... when they themselves pay NOTHING.

You didn't FIX anything. I am sick of MY taxes paying for handouts to people who demand things THEY aren't paying for.

Let them pay their fair share of EVERYTHING... see how quick the concept of what entitlements really costs will hit home.

And FYI... quite a few things are paid for or subsidized from money that MY FEDERAL INCOME TAXES pay for and go to people who pay none at all.

But then... I'm willing to bet you are one of that 40% that doesn't pay them either.

And Incidentally... I do... as well as having to pay the others too. Unlike those who have been getting a free ride because they think they are entitled to a free ride.

    Hello again, smoothy:

You're right. I don't pay ANY income tax. Not because I'm poor - but because I'm smart...

Living off the grid & paying and getting paid in cash only? I know people that do that... but its not possible in my line of work. Or my wife's.

Nahhh.. It's called financial planning. I own nothing. I have no income. My corporation makes money. My living trust is wealthy. I'm broke.

That's great if you can do it... not everyone is able. I take every bleeding tax writeoff and exemption I can legally get away with. And my Tax guy does take classes every year for the updated info (He's a Comptroller by occupation). Sure they are so complex he might miss a few... but he knows far more than any boxed software or anyone who does their own. Never been gigged yet... and I know of twice they checked further and found nothing out of order or wrong in my returns.

Not owning my own business does impose its limits on what I can and can't write off.

I saw on TV where a Republicrat was fillibustering the tax cuts now for a bazillion hours so far. Wonder when he's going to run out of "hot air"? When the Democruds decide to not cut the tax cuts already in place? I don't know. It's anybody's guess at this point.

Wrong . I opposed TARP and many of his domestic inititatives.

I also see little point in the Republican opposition and the Conservative pundit's objections to the tax compromise . I find it disturbing that I agree with former President Clintoon on this one . The Republicans who oppose it are not thinking this through. If the tax rates go up at the end of the year for all ,it will take through the spring before they can be restored. It will severely damage any hope of economic recovery if taxes are raised now. What they should be holding out for is comprehensive tax reform .
