Yeah he needed street cred . He was raised far removed from the streets of Chicago .He was Princeton and Harvard educated. Then he moved to Chicago to be an activist. He needed the associations with Rev Wright Pflager ,and screwy Louis (that has not been explored in enough detail yet) to advance a political career . Now he is trying to make a broader appeal so his associations with them hurt him... so hasta la vista .

Rush speaks from the microphone of a radio talk show, and he pays taxes.

Father Pflager, on the other hand, is a priest, speaking from a pulpit, in a so called church, that has a tax exempt status.

Therein lies a HUGE difference.

Yup part of the quid pro quo is they give up certain free speech rights like endorsing candidates and using their church for political organizing . The fact that churches for years have violated that without penalty is all the more reason for the tax exemption to end.

The US has never experienced having anyone other than Caucasians leading from the White House.
