Off to the social media this goes. :D
Smart ;as in smart For people who are concerned about context you certainly don't practice what you preach.
Fixed it with an edit.
Still doesn't make any sense.
Maybe irony or sarcasm is over your head ?
That's not even close to what he said, ex.
I think he meant "elite intellectuals" but he most certainly did not call conservatives dumb. You think Scalia is dumb? You think Tomas Sowell is dumb? You think Walter Williams is dumb? I mean really, I can' wait to see Paul Ryan up against Joe "stand up Chuck" Biden in debate. In fact, I wonder if Obama has learned how to place a call on an iPhone yet.Quote:
“We will never have the elite, smart people on our side,”
I'm OK with not having the elite he's referring to, they've screwed everything up with their progressive agenda and still want to go down the same path as Greece.
Uh, yeah, that's what everyone keeps saying. Not tech savvy enough to handle an iPhone.
And you think Obama does all this all by his little self? Bwa ha ha!Quote:
His appearance on Reddit was awesome. Do you think Romney is tech savvy?
He uses a BB, that's very well known. I use an Android. Neither of us would instinctively know how to use an iPhone.
Do you know how to use Ubuntu?
I use and Android and coworkers come to me for help with their iPhone and I've never owned one.
It's Linux, it's simple. I use it whenever Windows based options fail such as not being able to boot to Windows.Quote:

Is this a test?
Not only did the DNC show Russian ships in honoring our military, they apparently showed Turkish jets. And conservatives are the dummies?
As much as you and ex keep trying to say so, he said nothing of the sort. Really, this is just getting sillier and sillier. We have unemployment issues, underemployment issues, inflation issues, energy issues, Afghans repeatedly turning on NATO troops and a growing Islamic hissy fit and you guys want to lie about things Santorum said and talk about phony crap.
Does it really serve the public's interest to carry Obama's water for him with all these phony narratives?
Hi Tom,
Yes, even politicians deserve to be quoted in context.
What he actually said. "We will never have the elite smart people on our side".
He also said. "So college and university are not going to be on our side".
I am glad he moved to the left when he said that in order to cover up the Liberty University logo. I wonder what the Ph.D's at that particular institution felt about this comment.
Tut
After the events of the last week perhaps a little totalitarianism is in order. We cannot have Muslims populations running amok all over the world. Order, discipline, if not self disciple then...
Hello again,
Let's bring Romney into the discussion of dumb. He kind of ran off at the mouth a few months back and got caught... He say's stuff like, "Forty-seven percent of the country, are people who are dependent upon government, who believe they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to take care of them, who believe they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it.”
He went on to say there's nothing I can do to ever make them responsible for their lives...
What I find surprising in his remarks, is that he believes EXACTLY what our resident right wingers believe... David Brooks thinks these people have gone off the reservation...

Two of that 47% are my 20-something niece (unmedicated ADHD, can't keep a job and has two small children by two different men) and my 57-year-old sis-in-law (unmedicated agoraphobic and divorced from an alcoholic/druggie, has no job), both white and both Republican.
It hasn't been conservatives dumbing down the population for the last 60 years. All those good intellectual progressives are the ones that have been fighting tooth and nail to keep our children in the grip of a failed public education system.
It's far worse in my opinion, for politicians to promote the idea that we don't know what's best for us, that we can only achieve our full potential with the government's help, that government can engineer the individual a la Julia as the "elite intellectuals" arrogantly think they must do.
David Brooks the phony conservative likes the crease on Obama's pants. Who's he kidding ? He and other country club Repubics go 'tsk-tsk' at Romney over anything he says conservative ,while pretending that he's speaking out for Romney's benefit . With friends like that ;who needs enemies ?
Not really .Brooks represents the beltway politicians who co-mingle at cocktail hour and leave their convictions at the door. Those type of Repubics have been satified with being good losers for decades . The only thing they run on is making the case that they can be better managers of the leviathan nanny-state than the Dems .
Romney said, "All right, there are 47 percent who are with him [not my niece and sil], who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that's an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…[not my niece and sil]"
Neither of them want to be medicated or improve their lives, are content to milk the system, and both will vote for Romney. Wonder what their lives will be like in a year if he wins.
And I don't think Romney was writing them off . How many of the 47% wish they could find a job that paid enough so that they would be paying taxes? Is it the position here that the 47% prefer to vote for someone who wants them to remain in dependency ?
How many of the 47% are white Republicans?
What Romney doesn't understand, because he has never experienced it, is misfortune is no respecter of political views. It is clear he considers Republicans the master race, a true born to rule mentality. I grew up with people like him, those who considered themselves part of the elite
While I hold conservative views in some matters, I have never begrudged a genuine unemployed or genuine disadvantaged person the small amount the government gives them. It would do Romney to remember there but for the grace of God go I, or to put it another way in the manner and to the quantum you judge, with this standard will you also be judged
