Perhaps we have exausted opinions on
North Korea, Iraq, Syria, migrants, electoral cycle, climate change, general lawlessness

Here's one what should our response be when nationals are kidnapped in far away places?

In Burkino Faso two Australian doctors were kidnapped by islamic jihadists, these were people who were well known and had worked there for thirty years. I just cannot see Australia sending an SAS contingent to Burkino Faso, that is if our military intelligence could find it on a map, perhaps a quick flyover with FA 18 from Iraq would convince them to give them back

Just read that 3 Americans were believed kidnapped in Iraq today. I guess they are jealous of the 1.7 Billion dollars Iran received and want in the game.

So we can expect american intervention to recover these persons kidnapped in Iraq. What price stupidity, if a ransom is paid are they sent the bill?

Nah, Just send Kerry there and trade him for the hostages.

Most of what is going on in the world is distraction from the real issues.

1) Why has there been no negative press about the refugees when they have done some horrific things.

2) What is about to happen to the world economy since China doesnt seem to be finished with its economical realaignment?

Both of those should be front line stories and they are not.

Did you catch 60 minutes tonight? Wind Turbine Company had to fire 600 of their 900 employees thanks to China stealing the technology to there wind turbine business and essentially putting them out of business?

To me, Facebook is just more fun for discussion about the world. I get to argue with people I know or knew 50 years ago in person. Links and visuals are right there. Related links are under the links we show each other. I can look at comments made on other posts I have commented on (or not, when I can see someone just said something I don't need to see, like LOL).

AMHD always will be the best (for me) for how to and advice. It does have ever increasing competition from apps and videos on YouTube.

We have to take the PC view that a small number don't represent the majority, so those who transgress are criminals and their refugee status is incidential. It is hard to understand why these people would behave in this manner when it is unacceptable in their own societies. We did observe some time ago in my country that muslim youth thought non muslim women were fair game and pack rape is the mode of operation, it just proves muslims are cowards at heart, allowed by their religion to prey on women, children and the weak.

As to China it is getting plenty of press here, the stock exchange is in meltdown but in the US the news cycle is driven by the electoral cycle and the rest of the world can go to hell in a hand basket. While nonentities like Trump get all the press

All this posting based on what you hear on the news. The real issue is that you won't get any valid info from the news reported.

It's better to turn off your TV, stop relying on the news, and make your own opinions based on facts, which sadly are not available to you, and not what you see on the TV or read on the news, or see online.

Time to realize that people lie, all people, and the news isn't an accurate reflection of the truth. Turn it off, live your life without the crap you see, and you'll be a lot happier and saner because of it, because it's all lies. Unless you see it yourself, don't believe it just because it's on the news! It's a no brainer!

Tell us, then, how we are to make choices about candidates, issues and causes, etc. you can't flip a coin and choose heads or tails. It is important to stay educated on what is happening in the world. Just sticking one's head in the sand is a recipe for disaster.

We are seeing both but the China thing is relegated to the back burner because of our own crashing market. Today was a holiday for us and there was news of the Germans taking a hit today in the market. I cant wait till the dust settles as the world markets are uneasy with low oil and realaignment going on.

The refugee stories just arent making it to the mainstream at all other then searching the outside edges and looking through the fog of information. I too am stunned that the attitude seems to be the biting of the hand that feeds you rather then being polite with what your being given. It may be time to build the refugee camps in or near the countries of origination and let then eat their own.

The market falls are in response to China instability as well as low oil, everyone has the shakes and lots of self fulfilling prophecys. The China bubble has burst and it affect Europe just as it does other countries, no one is immune

As to refugee camps there are millions in such camps in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan. The million who have fled to Europe have done so to escape the hopelessness because Merkel was stupid enough to suggest to them they were welcome. Small number might have been welcome and absorbed but now they will turn Germany into a refugee camp like Gaza. But the refugee problem is too large to be contained because there are problems in Africa and Asia which are driving the exodus, 60 million are displaced, millions have already migrated to Europe. I don't know what you mean by let them eat their own, I expect you mean feed their own. Realistically Syria has lost the ability to do this, There are millions of internally displaced people in the middle east countries but the productivity of those countries is down because of war and sanctions. US and UN policies are counter productive and are feeding the problem. What is needed is a different attitude, proper migration strategies

No, what I mean is if they want to brutalize each other then let them do so and not those that are trying to help in this situation.
