Do you think criminal charges will be filed when the police didn't arrest me for theft
I was fired at Dillards for Theft and a police was called out... he arrived and told me that a detetive will be calling me and then they will go from there? My question is do you think any charges will be filed against me once and if a detetive calles me? Thanks

    Hello a:

It depends on the evidence. If you copped out, they have all the evidence they need, and you just might receive a summons in the mail. If you stole a LOT, they could show up at your door. Do I think they'll press charges? Yes. Of course. What do you think cops do?

If you didn't cop out, don't do it when the detective calls either.

    Hello again, a:

I don't know. Maybe they got NOTHING. Maybe they're waiting for the video tape. Maybe they're waiting for the detective. Maybe they're waiting for the prosecutor. Maybe they're just going to send you a summons, like I said. Maybe they're NOT waiting at all, and ain't going to DO anything.

Look, dude. I'm on your side. Hopefully you didn't snitch on yourself, and their case will fall apart. If they show up, keep your mouth shut, and hire a lawyer.

    Hello a:

It summons's you to court. It's like a ticket. It's NOT an invitation.

Remember, if the cop shows up, keep your mouth shut. You're not going to talk your way out of it, at that point. They already think you're guilty. So, if you talk to them, they're only looking for the stuff that will CONVICT you - not the stuff that will ACQUIT you. So, if you talk to them, you have everything to lose, and NOTHING to gain.

If only you knew this stuff BEFORE the cop got there... Oh, well.

    Hello again, a:

It sounds like you DIDN'T snitch on yourself, and that's good. If the detective calls or invites you to his office, don't go, and don't talk to him.

Whether you can afford to go to jail, or not, has NOTHING to do with it. What? You think all those people in there COULD afford it?

    Hello again, a;

It's better than snitching yourself off to the cops... But, no, the managers don't have to prove anything. They only have to say what you told them. That, along with any other evidence they have may, or may NOT be enough to prevent your arrest. That's why you might very well be receiving a call from them, because they don't have enough NOW to convict you. Don't give it to them.

    Hello again, a:

They won't put a warrant out as long as you show up per the summons. Yeah, the summons will come in the mail. If you don't show up, they'll put out a warrant. They may arrest you and try to scare you into making a plea bargain with them. Don't talk to them. Ask for a lawyer instead.

Could we please have a little more information on this situation? Depending on the criminal charges, yes, they can file charges after you were fired.

Sure, especially if you were terminated for this conduct. What are the charges?

I'm guessing it has something to do with this post.

    Hello again, a:

Try to keep all your posts related to this bust on the same thread. It makes it soooo much easier to follow.

Yes, you should tell your PO about this.

Because you could probably get in trouble with your PO if she finds out that you were questioned and didn't tell her.

Probably a bad way of putting it. Suggests that you were guilty but didn't get caught (yet).

Ok AK lAWYER... iM NOT understand your second answer... So do you think they will file charges against me... im a nercous wreck... I offered to pay them back, and the officer said OK.. he haven't got back with me.. is that a good sign or what?

    Hello again, a:

I'm not going to go back, but I think we've been here before. I don't remember talking about your probation, but of course you have to tell her. It's a VIOLATION if you don't. I'm sure you don't remember, but you signed a probation agreement that spelled out the rules. One of those rules is to report ALL police contact... It doesn't say anything about only reporting convictions...

But, as I recall, you already DID snitch on yourself to the cop who was called out to the store. So, it really doesn't matter that you said NOTHING to the detective, like I advised you to do, because they already have your confession.

Given that you did it, and you admitted to doing it, the chances that they're NOT going to file charges is 99 to 1 against you. I can't imagine why you would think you can skate on this. Cops are NOT there to let crooks go.

    I know. You don't like that you're a crook.

I was indicating that you are implying, in this thread, that you are guilty.

Excon's post suggests to me that you have admitted it in another thread.

Offering to pay it back is another admission of guilt.

Don't know why they haven't charged you yet. Perhaps they just haven't gotten around to it yet.

(he said he won't arrest me then, and told me this last time and he didnt)... well he said after that he has to turn it in to the county? What does that mean? Do I have to wait to see they will charge me with anything... plus here's the big one I am on probation already... HELP

My suspicion is that the Police want you to confess and then you will be charged.

DO NOT TALK TO THE POLICE.

You have 4 or 5 threads on this same subject. Everything that CAN be said HAS been said.

I have asked that the threads be combined and suggested that you stop asking questions and start reading the answers.
