Here's how things turned out for me, 101newbie101 and anyone else who's interested.
I did get a conditional discharge. My lawyer and the Crown prosecutor agreed on it.
I received 16 months probation, 20 hours of community service and I will have to get some counselling.
The fact that I was co-operative, remorseful, had no previous record, that the dvd's were returned still sealed and that I was under some stress due to my mom's breast cancer all helped my cause.
The judge felt that the counselling was approriate. It wasn't something the Crown came up with. She believes this behaviour was "a cry for help" and I think she might be right.
I'm very glad this is almost over.
So, to 101 and anyone else who finds themselves in the same predicament, make sure you get a lawyer to represent you and be as co-operative as you can.
