    Computer sign-on question
I share a computer. The other person has her own sign on screen and mostly
Uses a Mac. I'm very, very technically challenged so please reply simply.
I have to put in a password before I can even go to my screens. Just to sign
Onto the computer. I wanted to change that password but it said I needed
Some kind of flash. I am lost. How can I change it?

Question 2: Privacy on a shared computer
How can I be sure someone can't read my emails. I share a computer but
Don't give out my password except to sign onto this computer but not
    For the individual screen.

She uses one screen name for herself that I don't have the password for.
She also uses Internet explorer and foxfire to sign on.

As a computer tech, if she is more knowledgeable about computers you can't hid from her on the same PC. She can install tracer software which can watch what you are doing. Very unlikely but it is possible. I'd recommend to have a separate computer and use online email like Yahoo or gmail. Don't give out your password and that can prevent her from spying on your emails.

Is this on a Mac or on a PC? If PC what operating system are you using i.e. windows? Need a little more information in order to help you change the password, but it should be fairly simple.

Opengate88 you may want to have her have a sign onto the computer for herself and one for you and just a generic administrator sign on. That is a little more in depth then this discussion for you to change the password it is pretty simple.

Go to the start menu (the windows logo icon) [single left click]
Select Control Panel [Double left click]
Select User Accounts and Family Safety [Single left click]
Select User Accounts [Single left click]
    Verify this is your account
Select change password [single left click]
Now you can type in your current password and type in and verify your new password. Make sure you give yourself a new hint for the new password.
    Now click on change password.

    Hope this helps.

Thank you taking the time to write all those responses. I wrote a note to you
Under your last reply but a popup said I need more then two words... see, I
Can't even do that right. Anyway, I'm a bit scared to do those steps because
If I mess up or it doesn't work, I'll never be able to fix it. Is it def in the right
Order that I can follow it.
She has her own password and I thought all along she used it on my computer
    But I guess not.

Opengate88. I walked through the steps on my PC to make sure they are in the correct order as well as every click. I've written tech instructions for a layman many times. If at any point you think you did something wrong hit cancel. As I tell my users, it is only a computer you're not going to accidentally start WWIII by hitting the wrong button.

And it was perfect... thank you so much again.
