    Computer crashes
I received very accurate responses from PERITO on this problem but cannot answer because it says I don't have enough 'reputation' to do so. What does this mean? I really don't understand this at all. I've been an 'ask me' member for several months. Anyway, it sounds like excellent advice. Unfortunately it is beyond me to change drives from one PC into another. I thought I was an intermediate with computers, but a very savvy friend told me unless I completely understand windows I am still a beginner! So, (hanging my head in shame) maybe I could be classified as an intermediate beginner? Whatever. I do have a friend who may be able to help, except like once before when I needed PC help, he came to my house, sat down at the computer at 7PM and remained there, fixed until 2AM, and would have stayed longer until I said I really had to go to bed! During all this his girl friend kept callingto tell him she needed her flat tire fixed to go to work in the morning. So, after he got home, he fixed her tire, then spent 2 more hours on his own computer and got about an hour's sleep before going to his own job. He's like that. A true geek.
If you have read this far you know I'm a bit long winded so please forgive. Fortunately, I am still able to use this Gateway PC with Vista (which I don't like) to let this friend know I am in deep trouble with the HP Presario with XP (which I DO like). If he can't come by my house to fix, then it will have to be a trip to Best Buy and their Geek Squad. Does anyone have experience with Best Buy Geekdom, good or bad?
Thanks, and special thanks to Perito.

Bummer about not being able to answer. I'm not sure why that is (I'm fairly new to this place also).

I hope your friend or the Geek Squad can help you. I don't have any experience with the, but I watch Chuck ;-) and my sister has had good luck with them (she's not close enough for me to fix her box).

That's because you were trying to RATE the answer instead of reply to it. To prevent people from abusing the ratings feature, there are some restrictions. You need to use the Answer This Questiuon options to post follow-up.

    Thanks Scott,
I guess that answered my question about 'reputation'. But I don't really understand what is meant by 'reputation'. Sounds like I've been a naughty boy :^(

Reputation is the number of points you get from getting comments. You didn't give the info so I can merge your threads.
