I definitely think that children today do not respect adults like they used too. (Oh no I sound like my grandpa! ) But, seriously, there is a lack of respect among today's youth. When I was young I would never have come to school and told people at school that I hated my parents, but it happens daily now. And that is just one example.

But I am not sure if spanking is the answer...

I've never been spanked or threatened with spanking... and I turned out just fine.

I incorporate spanking in my home, but I wouldn't be comfortable with someone I don't know spanking my child. Corporal punishment (although barely used) is still legal in PA schools, but parents can send a note in disallowing the staff to resort to using it. I agree that children get away with far too much, but I don't think it is the school's place to teach discipline. I think that's a parent's job. My kid behaves in school because she knows I will be here when she gets home, and mom's punishments are a lot worse than the teacher's.

I was always the teachers' pet in school... because I was terrified my mother would kill me if I ever got into trouble. Teachers thought I was a good kid and treated me well. I can only remember my mom spanking me once, but she still scared me!

Spankings for me... well, I knew I was in trouble because my mother would take me to (as I call it) the place where no one could here me scream. This was obviously wrong and even after having gone through that I do know that there is a difference between spankings and abuse. I am for spankings when applied correctly under certain circumstances.

I hate being spanked but know that spanking are needed wto make a child obey or even in this case my mom still spanks me and I'm 24 but she dose it cause I have reardaion wich makes me act like a kid. Well I know spanking hurt but they sure do teach a leston what's the worst painfull spanking you have ever got and have you ever had your pants down
