    Oi!

First ask him if he wants to wear them.

Second, if he does, go shopping with him and pick out some together. Depends makes undergarments for kids, did you look at the links I posted?

Third, and this should be the first thing you do, make an appointment with his doctor, and demand that he be seen by a specialist.

First, you need to improve your parenting skills. If I came upon my 13 yr old son using diapers, I would certainly not order him around like you say you did. I would discuss with him why he brought them and wanted to wear them. Especially if you were aware he had an incontinence issue.

Second, I would not try to embarrass him further by getting him baby diapers. Getting him an adult diaper will show him that even adults can have this problem and make him feel a little better about himself.

Finally, if the last time you discussed this with his doctor was over 2 years ago, then you are being remiss in not following up on this sooner. I really feel sorry for your son, that he had to go to the extreme of buying his own diapers.

Give him the money and you wait in the car. He chose his own before, he can do it again.

You can suggest there are brands for men but let him choose.

It's completely up to the boy what he wants to do, if he wants to then let him, but he should buy them himself to be honest :)

I question how a 13 year old boy was able to buy these on his own to begin with...

Really? You mean there isn't a law against this?

Ok, seriously... here is what I was asking:

    How did he get there?
Where did he get the money?
How did he find the nerve to buy them?

If I sent my kid to buy them, they would be embarrassed and tell me no.

    Just wondering.

When I first read this thread, because the OP (original poster) wrote it so poorly, I thought it was a matter of want, not need. She didn't mention that he had a problem with incontinence in her original post. She made it sound like he simply wanted to wear diapers.

Now that the issue has been made clear, that he has either a medical problem, or another problem, I have to say that no, I don't think he should have to pay for them himself. I do think he should be allowed to pick them out, if he chooses to wear them.

He hasn't gotten the medical care he needs to figure out why this is happening at the age of 13. This is not merely a night time issue, it happens during the day too, which really indicates a medical issue.

The least his mother can do is pay for undergarments so he's not embarrassed when this happens. Sadly, it seems that the least she can do, is exactly what she will do. The very least. :(

He was desperate enough to steal money to buy diapers. That is probably the saddest thing I've ever heard. That poor child.

You didn't really take him to the doctor 2 years ago, did you? I'd bet that you've never taken him to the doctor for anything. :(

This is your child. You brought him into this world, and it's your job to take care of him! Do you not find it disturbing that he was so desperate to get some help, to fit in, that he stole money so he could buy himself diapers?

Like Alty, when I first read this I thought we had a child with some sort of fetish. But reading on, it appears we have an abusive or ignorant mother who doesn't know how to care for her child. This boy should talk to a guidance counselor at school, I think children's services should get involved.

Imagine a child so desperate to steal money to buy diapers. I suspect this poor boy is being abused at school because of this.

As noted, you are meant to take care of your child. You get him the help he needs. You take him to a doctor and if the doctor can't solve the problem, you take him to a specialist.

You don't get angry at him because he has a problem. He should feel he can come to you with problems like this.

Am I the only one that thinks we're posting with the child and not the parent?
