If I felt comfortable with them then I don't think I would think of them as a stranger anymore. If they didn't make a big deal out of my silence, and I set secret goals for myself with out them knowing, then I could try and talk to them. However, it would still be hard because obviously up to that point they wouldn't have heard me speak, so I would be very scared about what they think about my voice and what I say and how they'd react. I would definitely try though, and once the first words are out, I probably wouldn't stop talking - a side of me that not many people see now-a-days.

People have judged me and made comments on my voice all my life, as well as me feeling I've embarrassed myself by something I've said. However, the thing that's confusing me is I don't remember anything standing out at around the time it started. I know it can suddenly start after Post Traumatic Stress but I don't think I've been through something that serious. I do know that at that time I went through an experience, which to me was very traumatic and I got very depressed. It was after this that it happened, so I was wondering if you think it could be caused by this? If I somehow associated talking with it? Or when I got so down and quiet, I spent time worrying about how the people involved thought of me, and when it came to talking again, my social anxiety had subconsciously gotten worse so I suddenly felt a lot more worried about speaking? This is the only possible trigger I can think of apart from my SA simply getting worse, so do you think it could be the reason?
