    equation work
    In NaHCO3 + HCl-----yields Na Cl + H2O + CO2,

    How can I determine whether 1.31 g of HCl would be suffiicient to react with 3.8g NaHCO3

    Balance your equation so that your coefficients are right. Then you can use them to form a ration between the two.

    if you use the balanced equation u see 1 mole of HCl is needed for 1 mole of NaHCO3 using this u can first find the formula mass of 1 mole of HCl=36.5g it will neutralise 1 mole of NaHCO3 = 84g. So if for 84g of NaHCO3 u need 36.5g of HCl for 3.8 g you need 1.65g(unitary method of arithmatic) so its not enough!
