I have only been on this site 10 minutes, and I can tell you that you will get nothing but criticism from these stuck up snobs, seems if you don't have money to give to the vet, you are incompetent and stupid, I wonder, were they always this ignorant, or were they born with money!

Speaking of ignorant - does that gigantic chip on your shoulder get in your way when you turn your head?

If you can't afford a pet, don't own one.

I'm personally getting a little sick of your "stuck up snobs" remarks addressed to those of us who actually work and pay for medical treatment for our pets.

If you want to fight, go on a message board.

You are WAY out of line.

This should be on the psychic board because I predict you aren't going to be around very long.

Out of line to take in a stray who needs food and shelter? I think not, maybe the stuck up snobs need to be just a little bit more compassionate towards people who want to help but don't have the money you do. You want to help? Then send the people who are asking for help money! Stop telling them that they are idiots!!

Let's try to keep it friendly boys and girls! Rags, I don't know what your problem is, but bashing users for any reason is not allowed. Unless you want to get banned, I recommend you stop. As for everyone else, I recommend quit replying to him. If he is a troll, he just may get bored and leave of his own accord, unless Ben or someone gets here and does something about it first.

Yep, I would recommend taking it to the vet. It's not matted, but is their any crusted eye "goo" or anything around the eyes? There could be seeping puss or something sealing them shut.

You are right, a kitten's eyes should be open by now. Is it both eyes, or just one? Is it the only kitten of the litter? Is the mother still around?

I would also recommend a damp, warm towel, and wiping the eyes out. Does this only happen after the kitten sleeps? Maybe try watching. Perhaps it gets into something, are the eyes sealed shut, or the kitten just doesn't want to open them?

However, I am no vet, and if this doesn't get results, then, unless someone else has better ideas, I say take it to a vet.

This is not a charity organization, this is a help desk.

We can't help those that won't help themselves.

Having a pet is a responsibility, not something you should have just because you want it.

If you can't afford vet care then you shouldn't have a pet. Why should the animal suffer just because you want it?

I'm not rich, I barely get by, but my pets and my kids never go without, because I chose to have them, they didn't choose to be here.

Snobs? No. We do have compassion, for the animals, not for the owners that can obviously afford internet but can't afford to get their pets the care they need.

Hi hon. I hope this thread gets cleaned up a bit for you. Sorry you had to see all of that.

    Now, about your kitten.

Kittens normally open their eyes between 7 and 14 days. They don't always open on the same day but normally will open within 48 hours of each other. On occasion kittens get an infection which reseals an open eye or stop ones from opening at all. If you carefully wipe around the eye and across the lid with a warm moist cloth or cotton ball, then if there is an infection then you should be able to see some puss. If this is the case then you need to take your kitten to the vet to ensure no long term eye damage is sustained. Being that the kittens eyes are not both open by 18 days I would advise a trip to the vet anyway as damage can be done to the long term vision of the cat if an eye does not receive any stimulus by 3-4 weeks

    Good luck hon.

Sorry jennie, had to spread the rep. But, you are right. I got to it first, but you seem more knowledgeable in the subject! :)
