Sirs,
I have two cats around one year old.They refuse to eat anything else other than pellets that are meant for dogs and puppies (Pedigree).Sometimes they eat chicken liver or beef liver.They will not touch milk or even fish.

The liver would help make up for the lower protein in the dog chow. Still, they would be better of on a chow formulated for cats. Study the ingredient list of the Pedigree, and try to find a cat chow as close as possible. Pedigree may even make one just different enough to meet cats' needs.

It is funny, usually it is the dogs eating the cats' food.

I have had cats almost all my adult life - used to raise apricot poodles - until I got ill and can't take them out anymore - now I just need to change the box.

Cats like different odors and are crazy about some - mine loves chicken, salad dressing and mayonaise. Maybe it's something he lacks in his usual diet, although he's picky after eating the same brand for 3 days, he wants a change of brands. Some cats love dry food, and some only moist, it differs with cats as it does with people. Can you imagine eating the same stuff every day? Goodness knows! Just be careful not to give them stuff that's poison to them, otherwise, I give my cat what he 'craves' although some people thinks differently. But my cat is my 'main man' and he gets what he wants otherwise, as long as he's happy. I noticed one day that a vitamin E capsule was broken and the oil was running out onto my hand, you should have seen Larry (his pic is on my post) - he licked my hand dry. So, now I add a capsule once a month, as a treat and he just loves it. So, as long as it's not dangerous to your babies, let them have what they want. I always call the vet and ask if it's OK, and have done nothing wrong so far, except not adding potassium to his diet due to his old age. I'll find that soon too. Better stop now, cause when I start about Larry, it's hard to stop, he's such a love! P.S. my b/fs cat likes to eat the food pellets he feeds his fish in the pond outside.

What is good for a cat, or any other animal, is a chow specially formulated to meet their specific needs. In the United States, the shelves are loaded with a wide variety of chows tested using AAFCO methods to insure the chow alone will provide the species the complete and balanced diet it needs without any additives. In fact, adding anything is much more likely to cause problems than solve them. Some vitamins in excess can even be toxic.

Unless they are overfed, usually dogs will eat whatever you give them and look for more. I don't have the extensive experience and training with cats I have with dogs. Cats may be harder to please. I suggested finding a cat chow as near to the dog chow they were eating as you could. If that doesn't work, you only have about 100 more to try.

Dogs can eat cat food just fine but dog food for cats is not good for them. Also give the cats only a little bit of milk (with water) or Lactose free milk (Best option, other than milk made especially for cats and dogs), their tummies will be better for it.
