Poor Aura, story of my life, err I mean her poor little life! :p
She has a good life. A mommy that cleans and feeds her. Five siblings to play with and boss around. A human to do her bidding. She even gets 'tumble time' now.
A few minutes each day, I put all the babies on the carpet and let them tumble and walk and fight and just generally get used to being on a surface firmer than the plush pet bed they live in. it helps them get used to walking easier.
Hehe, zoe has been getting a lot more one-on-one attention than she wants. She's figured out how to climb in and out of the nest on her own. Edith has decided that the baby on the floor needs cleaned, EVERY time she's on the floor. Since zoe's been climbing back and forth every few minutes for the past couple hours, she's VERY clean now. Since zoe keeps trying to get away to do some more exploring, edith is holding her down so she can clean her.
So far zoe, spot, aura, and alty-cat have all purposely climbed out of the next. Zoe and spot are the only ones that have figured our how to get back IN the nest. Aura just lies in the floor and falls asleep. Alty-cat cries until I put her back.
Mop and unky climb to the edge, but they seem to be afraid of the 3-4" fall onto the carpet.
They all come running to the side of the basket when I sit down to play with them. Zoe even crawls out onto my lap.
For such an opinionated little butthead, alty-cat certainly is timid when it comes to exploring.
Zoe and spot are the adventurist ones. Zoe more so than spot. She covered most of my living room floor today, which is a lot of distance for such a tiny cat. Spot seems content to stay within a foot or two of the nest. The others stay right up next to it when they manage to climb, or fall, out.
babies are 3 weeks, now, so it's picture time ^_^

OMG!! There have never been cuter kittens in the history of the world!! I want to cuddle them and pet them and play with them -- and steal them!!
We need to charter a kitten delivery system, so we each can get one. Maybe Edith should have more, so there are enough to go around AMHD?
I have to say Zoe looks freaking adorable in that pic! Those kitties are genuine heart melters!
I actually think I'm going to be keeping either spot or mop with zoe. I just haven't completely decided, yet. I wish I could keep them all, but I know better. It's going to have to be the two that tug at my heart the most.
I have more pics up on Facebook. I already made alty add me, so if you guys have her as a friend on Facebook should find me through her and add me to see more cuteness.
I call Aura!
Hey, if you guys can figure out a way to get the kitties to you, I couldn't be happier then to send them to you. I know they would be loved and well cared for. And, I'd have the bonus of being able to get updates on them.
Well, I don't know what every one else's excuse is, but I found a reasonable way to get the kitties to me.
There's Pet Airways is a pet airline for pawsengers.
All you need to do is build a ramp and fly across that little ole river ala ET.
But I have yet to find the proper basket for my bike. I need one with a lid so the kitten doesn't fly out.
K, I'll keep my eyes peeled too.
I want to find something like this. I actually got the idea when I saw a lady with this actual basket for her dog. It would be nice if I could find something closer to the $20-$30 range. This one is just way out of the reasonable price range. It'd be nice if I found one that had a removable lid, that way I could use it to carry things when there aren't kitties in it.
If I don't find something, then I may find a way to make one.

I think the cage thing on top is removable -- looks like it in the other photos, plus the description talks about the "roll top cage."
Could you construct your own removable top for when you are carrying something other than kittens? It looks doable.
Call the toll free number to ask (or I will)?
I will take Aura and Zoe.
Just.. um... hop on your bike and whip up a cyclone or something to fly them to me.
Finding a basket for my bike should be easy enough. If I can figure out a way to make a cage lid, I will. Making it removable would be a simple matter of attaching a couple of straps with snaps.
I just don't find $80 reasonable for a bike basket. Hell, even if I had bought myself a brand new bike, it would only have cost $85 for the one I wanted.
Nobody wants Altycat? :(
What about a rectangular wicker basket, then add a cake cooling wire thing as a cover and a frame to secure it to your bike.
Hmmm. My husband's retired with nothing to do all day. He could turn his van into a charter vehicle.
I don't want a flat lid. Aren't cake racks flat?
I'm sure I'll figure something out. If nothing else, I can always attach screening to thin, wooden frame. I'd just prefer something a bit wider. Wide enough for fingers and paws to get through, but not heads, and open enough they it doesn't obstruct their view.
It really does, and she's very pleased with it. She's also too smart for her own good. She was the first one to figure out how to get in AND out of the nest on her own (the rest can fall out, but she was the first to figure out how to climb back in). Earlier she was eying my loveseat and trying to decide if she could climb up it. I think she's starting to respond to her name, but it's hard to tell if it's that or just the sound of my voice.
She's going to end up being the first to get into everything. What's worse, she'll be smart enough to do it when I'm not watching, that way she doesn't get yelled at.
Spot will be right after her. I'm just not sure if he'll figure out how not to get caught, or not. He's bold, but I'm not sure how brainy he is yet.
Alty-cat will be the one sitting by and watching her siblings get in trouble. She's the little sister that tattles, then follows along to watch the drama unfold.
Aura will be in another room, and probably ignoring it all. She's the princess that's too sophisticated to get in trouble.
Mop will be asleep somewhere. Probably with his head buried under something. He'll wake up after everything's over and wonder what happened.
Unky will tag along to to see what's going on. He likes to be where things are happening, but I think he just likes to watch. He's the little brother curious about everything.
I expected more from her. ;)Quote:

Pretty much. The main thing is supplies. Figuring out what I need and where I can get it.
Tools aren't really an issue. There's pretty much everything I need, at work, as long as I don't get too fancy. Then again, I don't plan on needing aluminum piping or anything fancy. If I make one, it will probably be wood and chicken wire, or something similar.
The main problem will be finding the supplies in the small amounts I'll need. I don't need an entire length of chicken wire or screening.
The ideal would be finding some heavy duty wire that I could bend, but that wouldn't cave easily after that. I wish I had experience with industrial metalwork. The only real metalworking I've done has been jewelry making.

When you said lid, I was thinking spot welded welding filler material or even silver soldered. You could even use coat hanger wire.
Wait till she grows up

LOL! I had to spread the rep M. That looks like an Alty-cat. :)
I don't have access to a welder or soldering iron. Work in a furniture shop, so there aren't any heavy duty metal working tools.
I was thinking of securing it with either wire or string twists at the intersections. String would need replaced sometimes, but wire might scratch the kitties.
Thanks for the coat hanger suggestion. For some reason, I just hadn't thought of that. Getting hold of half a dozen coat hangers to so will be a lot easier, and cheaper, than finding wire.
