Home remedies for cats with eye infections
I would like to know if there are any home remedies for cats that have eye infections. My cat has a gunky watery discharge from his eye and the vet is closed on a Sunday.

Wait until tomorrow and take the cat to the vet. The infection canbe bad, but putting something on the cats eye could be worse for it. Clean it with some warm water and go to the vet ASAP when it opens. Also, is there not an emergenct vet in your area? You should look.

Char is right doing the wrong thing to it without knowing exactly what is wrong, could make it worse, lose the eye or it could be a secondary infection to another infection that is in its body. You can try different home remedies but they could make it worse.

I was told by many people, people that have barn cats as well as I was told by a veterinarian that Borac Acid can be used to treat minor eye infections. You can normally find this at a pharmacy. It must be diluted with sterile water/distilled. You could also try eye wash for humans as one of the Inactive ingredients is : Boric Acid. If by using this and it doesn't seem to help, I then would take the cat to the doctor to be checked out.
