I have a manual, and when I put it into gear, it feels like there's nothing there. I can put it in first and slide it right over to fifth. What's wrong with it?

It's a manual, and the shifter feels like there's nothing there.
If it feels like nothing is there. You may have broken the shift lever. If it won't go into gear, it could be a bad clutch or a bad slave cylinder. Little more detail would help.
Check the shift linkage going to the transmission. On Hondas, one linkage is held on with an 8mm pin, while the other linkage is mounted with a bolt. Year, make, model, and engine size would help. Also, has any work recently been performed on the transmission?
If the clutch pedal goes to the floor, or you feel no pedal resistance, the slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder either need replacing or bleeding. It doesn't take much air in the system to create big problems.
It's a 2000 cavalier. The clutch was just put in it in January. There's no weird noises or smells or anything, but I can put it in 1st gear and slide it over to 5th. Its just like there's nothing there.
