Overheating 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 truck with snowplow
I have a 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 V10 truck with a snowplow. The temperature gauage only goes up over 200 degrees, up to about 240 degrees only when I have the snowplow attached and going down the road. If I stop and idle the truck the temperature will go back down to 195 degrees. Has anyone experienced this with their dodge truck? I have already changed the thermostadt and that did not help.

Try putting in a bigger radiator; our plow truck was doing the same thing because the plow wasn't letting enough air get through to cool off the truck. Ours is an F-150 but it's the same theory.

Years ago, I saw an ad for a detachable deflector that could be mounted on top of the plow blade to eliminate this problem.
I don't know if the company is still in business, but it's worth looking into.
