If you saw a REALLY good car deal and I mean HOLY SH*T that's a good deal, then wouldn't you try to see who and what this person is about? I think you would.

Of course, I'm not stupid and know how scammers work. The alleged seller wants me to go through eBay protection program (an escrow) in which I myself would set up.

I will know if the person is scamming me when they refuse to give me the registration number or refuse to give me their number so that I may set up a car inspector to look at it.

I sold a car on EBay and there was no hold on the money. The buyer came to me with cash, picked up the car and I got billed later for my EBay fees which I paid through my PayPal account. There was no "EBay Agent".

Judging by the writing style, I'd bet the guy "selling" the car had a career as a baron looking to have you help secure millions of US dollars hidden away in the account of a deposed and dying leader of some nation and all they need to process the transaction is for you to give them your bank account number, SSN, name address, DOB, etc, etc. Once you give all that and wire them a couple thousand, they will deposit tens of millions into your bank account and all you have to do is give them back a little of it.

I never said there was an eBay "agent." Ebay is extremely secure when it comes to transactions being made.

I'm not giving the guy any money until I see the car. He can pay for shipping the car over, he can make the deposits etc...

Are you really that naïve to think that someone in another date is going to sell you this car?
You said he gets "free shipping" once a year. Well, if you don't take the car, how is he going to get it back? Since he's already shipped once.
Second... no bank. And I mean NO BANK is going to lend you money with out a P&S from him.

I've decided against it anyway. I know for sure that the seller would not drive to where I live just to "show" me the car. It's too much of a hassel.

Good thing you cancelled the deal, I started to think why would he not list his car for sale in the city HE LIVES IN.

There are stories online of people who bought cars and never got them after sending money. And even some cases where the money was supposed to be held by a 3rd party but as it was arranged by the seller somehow they got the money and still never sent the car.

And the worst part, he wants to arrange transport with a company his brother works for so he has even more control of the sale.
