    You will likely get it close enough, which can be fine-tuned later. However, it can affect performance by having the timing too far retarded or too advanced.

    OK hear is the deal... I took my distributer off and it turns out that the distributer is for a 98 honda civic 4 door non v-tec... my car is a 96two door honda civic ex 1.6l vtec I looked on the distributer and it shows this TD-80U... I searched this part and it tells me this is for a 97 -98 non v-tec.. counld this be why my car won't start and can you tell me the model number I should have... the model number I found on the distributer it's self... please help...

    That could do it. Call Honda and get the part no. for the distributor your car should have.

    I did they said it the same one for 96 98 they were telling me it might be the timing.. what you think??

    OK well most people including yourself has told me is the ignition coil so that's what I'm going to replace... ill let you know if I fixed my problem.?

    OK update... I change the distributer and got new plugs and wires but its still doing the same thing... any other thing it could be?? Is there a ceartain way to install the distributer... maybe I installed in wrong... I heard there is a timing on that>?? I don't know out of options PLEASE TXGRESSEMONKEY... HELP ME...

    If you installed a brand new distribubor and it still doesn't start, go back and perform all the tests in Sections A and B of the Sticky. Be sure to check all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter.

    OK its running now... I just took it to honda... it turns out tha my timing belt was off by 5 teeth so
    They took it off and ajusted the timing an good to go... I only paid $118

    Pretty amazing. Do you know how it got off by 5 teeth? Regardless, you got a good deal on the car.
