Here's one from an old guy I've recently read about:
"How much better a thing it is to be envied than to be pitied." ~ Herodotus (440-420 ? BC)

Regina Brett quotes ~ about growing old (she's 90 years old now) :

Life isn't fair, but it's still good

Your job won't take care of you when you're sick. Your friends and family will. Stay in touch!

It's OK to get angry with God once in a while. He can take it.

Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their hourney is all about.

Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.

It's never to late to have a happy childhood. Surely, the second one is up to you and no one else.

Burn the candles, use the nice sheets and wear the fancy lingerie. Every day is special. Including today.

What other people think of you is none of your business.

Time heals almost everything. Give things time.

However good or bad a situation is, it will change.

Don't take yourself too seriously. No one else does.

Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

Your children get only one childhood.

Lilfe isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

Home is where my heart abides, where my story began, where my history lies. It is not a structure, nor a location, but in the souls of my family. It is a charmed place, a lovely ideal, a safe haven. It holds the keys to my personality, the definition of who I am, and the reason for why I smile. I owe my life to those that make up my home; for without them, I would be less of me.

We say that the hour of death cannot be forecast, but when we say this we imagine that hour as placed in an obscure and distant future. It never occurs to us that it has any connection with the day already begun or that death could arrive this same afternoon, this afternoon which is so certain and which has every hour filled in advance. ~Marcel Proust

"Take time to be quiet." ~Zig Ziglar~

That's especially meaningful to me because, too often we lose site of what we really need to be concentrating on because of the extra "noise" that we've created for ourselves.

    Thanks!

    In an interview,
General Norman Schwarzkopf was asked if he thought there was room for forgiveness toward the people who have harboured and abetted the terrorists who perpetrated the 9/11 attacks on America.

    His answer was classic Schwarzkopf.

    The General said,

"I believe that forgiving them is God's function. OUR job is to arrange the meeting."
