"I'd rather be hated for who I am then loved for who I am not."
Beatrice:... But I beseech your Grace to pardon me; for I was born to speak all mirth and no matter.
Don Pedro: Your silence most offends me, and to be merry best becomes you; for, out of question, you were born in a merry hour.
Beatrice: No, sure, my lord, my mother cried; but then there was a star danced, and under that was I born...

Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.

Animals have these advantages over man: they never hear the clock strike, they die without any idea of death, they have no theologians to instruct them, their last moments are not disturbed by unwelcome and unpleasant ceremonies, their funerals cost them nothing, and no one starts lawsuits over their wills.
-Voltaire
Tragedy is when I cut my finger. Comedy is when you walk into an open sewer and die.
-Mel Brooks
Life is eternal, and love is immortal,
and death is only a horizon;
and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.

Here's one for the upcoming holiday.
From ghoulies and ghosties
And long-leggedy beasties
And things that go bump in the night,
Good Lord, deliver us!
~Scottish Saying
Good-night! good-night! as we so oft have said
Beneath this roof at midnight, in the days
That are no more, and shall no more return.
Thou hast but taken up thy lamp and gone to bed;
I stay a little longer, as one stays
To cover up the embers that still burn.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. ~Kahlil Gibran
He spake well who said that graves are the footprints of angels. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Perhaps they are not the stars, but rather openings in Heaven where the love of our lost ones pours through and shines down upon us to let us know they are happy. ~Author Unknown
"Love does not die when a person passes on, but becoms a fragrant bouquet of respect, admiration, and hope tied with a delicate ribbon of promise." Me.

M, aren't you here early? Or are you still at home, enjoying your first cup of coffee?
It's 2:30pm here.

8.50 am here. I think with you guys switching your clocks over it's confusing you ;)
M, I'm always confused, life's better that way. ;)
Aren't you still early to be at work? Or am I late? Did I change the clock back or forward? One hour or two? Where am I? What time is it? Am I awake?

Look up at me and you see a god;

Hey Angel, I will be anxious to see if you are right!! A little scarey!!
This thread should be a sticky :)
I was charged to "find" a poem to read at my Grammy's funeral, but couldn't find one that was what I wanted to say. While looking through some poetry books that were in her favorites pile, I found a poem called "Do not stand at my grave and weep" but didn't like the ending. It just seemed to "end" without "ending." (Does that make sense?)
So, I wrote my own ending for the poem. I'll be reading this at the funeral. Thought I'd share. My words are underlined.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I have gone, I've climbed the steps in the sky
Greive for a while, but do not for long
I'm Home! My flight is my song.
Seek comfort in the stars, in the quiet evening light
For I shall be there, never alone in the night.
Take care of my prince, for he was my love,
My children, my heritage, my gifts from above.
In the Arms of my King, over yonder I shall wait
My mansion, my crown, my glorious, ransomed fate.
My saviour has called and I have come home
I bid you adieu, but shall never leave you alone.
My love will follow you,
My joy shall strengthen you,
My history shall encourage you,
My God shall comfort you.
Just beautiful HC. The last four lines speaks volumes! Hugs to you today! You additions were just wonderful. The verses you wrote are more like a precious song from the heart. I just love it.
