I'm speaking to variety of doctors, all of whom seem to be top of their game. One is Dr Seckel, type his name in Google. He has a great site and a section where he has answered a lot of questions regarding dark circles. I went to see him in Boston last year, a very nice man with a lot of experience, he actually specializes in dark circles. I have just emailed him today with some questions that could shed a lot of light.

Its seems though that my dark cirlces are the hardest to treat. Thin skin, visible veins etc.

Where under your eye are the veins you want to remove. I ask because I saw a sclerotherapist in London few weeks back who has had success removing these veins by injection.

Its still a fairly new treatment to inject around the eyes but in the states it seems more widely available. Hva e alook at the before and after pics on this site...

Ive also spoken to other doctors on possibly using lasers to close the blue veins and a doctor in England who treats the broken veins on the skin with anew treatment.

Like you guys, I suffer every single day with my dark veins under both eyes. I tried all kinds of concealers but they really don't work.. Everyone says to me that I look tiered. I'm really sick of hearing "look at your dark circles, you must rest!".. Please please someone help me!

I'm in the same boat; large blue vein under my right eye. I just got back from the dermatologist and she said she can't help, but suggested an ocular surgeon. Eye surgery? Great, so now Im stuck like the rest of you... I bought a concealer today, but it doesn't do anything. Im going to resort to folk remedies like apple cider vinegar... a lot of good that will do, eh? I contacted that place in Arizona through email several times, but they never reply.

Had the same problem and don't fret there is a cure! You have to choices you can have them Laser therapy which I had done and it worked on some and also you can have Sclerotherapy done which is an injection of the vein. I had both done and my eyes look great! Dr Edward Zimmerman (702) 360-0128 does both or Dr M.H. Bashy (702)838-0444 only does Sclerotherapy.. Dr Zimmerman is the better choice. By the way they are in Las Vegas, Nevada.. So your dematologist lied to you... good luck

There is help available. Have you ever heard of fat grafting? It's a procedure that takes fat from a donor sight in your body, and it used to fill parts of your face. It works for dark circles, and to cover up under eye veins. I understand what it feels like to be depressed about under eye problems. I used to cry all the time, and some days couldn't go to work. I was about 23 when they appeared (veins and dark circles), and now I'm 29.

There is a doctor, his name is Steven Svehlak, and he practices in LA. He is flat out amazing. He is completely honest, and is down-to-earth, and incredibly talented. It took four procedures for me to look the way I do now, but I look WAY better than I used to. NOT perfect, but about 70% better.

The fat grafting costs 500-2000 bucks based on what you need. But check out sunset cosmetic surgery's website. I researched him, and found him after seeing about 15 other doctors. I've had tons of laser treatments, tried dozens of creams, restalyne, and have been all over the country trying to find a solution to this problem. Trust me, this is as best as it gets!

Hi everyone. I'm really surprised to find out that so many people suffer from this. I thought I was some kind of a freak! The veins under my eyes appeared when I was 13. Don't know what brought them on, one minute they weren't there, next minute they were. Since that day, I never leave the house without foundation, concealer and powder under my eyes. I'm starting to really hate it as I feel I can't do all the things I want to, i.e camping etc because I always worry about my make-up coming off and not being apply to re-apply properly.

When I was about 19, I had laser treatment. When the consultant saw the veins, he said 'yes, they are very bad' and that he wasn't sure if the laser would work. I had it anyway and it did absolutely nothing. Then earlier this year, I went for Veinwave which is a new form of laser. The woman doing the treatment was absolutely lovely but said that the veins looked too deep to treat. She tried but once again, it did nothing (she actually gave me the treatment for free!)

Basically, I've now learnt that laser treatment ONLY works for spider or thread veins, i.e.. Red veins which are close to the surface. If your veins are blue this means they are deeper and the laser won't work.

So I am now considering sclerotherapy. Only thing is most places in the UK will not use this for the face, as they say it is too risky. That's why it was nice to read your info cjfox! That place looks really good and even has pics of a woman with blue undereye veins! I think your suggestion Maya79 is also good about the fat grafting but that seems like more of a serious procedure. The only prob with sclerotherapy is that I've read it can close the vein but that other ones will them open around the same area. Also, the thing that worries me is that the vein is supposed to bulge out for a few weeks-month afterwards before it vanishes so that's going to be a bit awkward at work.

I really want to try it because I hate having to cover them up every single morning (it takes ages! ) but I'm going to do more research and maybe travel to USA for it if I can't find anyone in the UK. Has anyone had this done in the UK? If so, what was the name of the place you went to?

Blue and purple color on the lower eyelids is most commonly caused by small blood vessels. I have had really good luck with IPL or Photo-facial treatments recently. Sclerotherapy is OK for large veins but the smaller matted ones are most responsible for eyelid skin color.

I am 15 and have been applying, re applying, and once again, applying foundation, and powder under my eyes for 2 years straight now. Every single day. Not ONE day I will go out without my make-up. Even when somebody comes to the door I rush to put a quick layer which looks cakey and un-natural.

I do think I will some laser treatment done within the next few years. Hopefully during or before college. I do not want to have to struggle any more with the burden of having to have a mask under my eyes where nobody can see the real me.
I need to get it done before college/ during college because I am going to be having interviews to become a pharmacist and a model.

Maybe, with my luck I can find a drug to remove blue veins from everyone's under eyes and save the world!! :) hehe can you people wait maybe 5 years for another solution? Ha. You never know. I could be holding our future in my hands. I doubt it though.

For now these few solutions are all we have to "replenish" our face and we will have to live with these options until a more new, more advanced, and more trusted solution comes out.

I think the scipfajoidaofisdy(spelling. Haha) thingy sounds like the best option to me. I await to hear the results of many of you previous answerers.

I do believe once we all get laser/ some different treatment done, we will be gorgeous people.. not like we aren't anyway.

Before having surgery try bathing in Epsom salts (magnesium sulfate). Soak +/-30minutes each time, don't add anything else, just 2 cups of Epsom salts. Also wash your eyes daily with the salts (morning & night). You can also put some on your eye area and put a hot towel over it, creating a mask and leaving it on for some time.
It could be that you are getting too little sulfates in your diet (most people do and don't know) and this is causing a build-up of toxins (probably phenol) around the eye/nostrils area. Preventing a proper evacuation through the veins.
I can't assure you that this will help for you, but it's worth a try, isn't it? Epsom salt are available at your drugstore and are very cheap. I pay around €2.5 per kilo.

Ok I have been asked for the last time... Hey who gave you the black eye. I am ready to be done with these at 43! I have had them since I can remember. I am going to try the epsom salts... but really running around getting ready for work I can't see soaking for 30 min is going to fit in my schedule! The veins are large these are not spider veins! They are real veins just as large as the one in my wrist. Some days are better than others. I am going to see a doctor about cutting them out. I believe they make two small incisions and then cauterize them and take the vein out. I would rather have two small scars that I can lather cocoa butter on than two black eyes constantly. I have to admit they are less noticeable with lots of sleep, which I don't have the luxury of right now! I will post what luck I have, but the laser is for SPIDER veins only.

Also, if you want to try taking it internally. 1 TEAspoon a day in a glass of water will be sufficient, more might give you diarrhea :s
If you don't have the time to soak for 30 minutes... try making a cream with the Epsom salts.
Epsom Salt Recipies
This worked for me! I had BLACK circles and a double fold under my eyes which made me look extremely tired and probably older than I really am (24 yrs). I had them forever since I was a kid and wondered why I had them as every blood test I had done came out with a "normal" result only showing an allergy to dairy which I didn't consume anyway. Well apparently my liver didn't absorb everything correctly and taking epsom salt daily has been of great benefit. After taking epsom I can eat / drink whatever I want and nothing happens. I can eat normal ice cream now and don't have to limit myself to sorbets or Popsicles!:D
Note that it took me about 2 months to get rid of them completely, but they started fading after a 2-3 weeks or so which was very encouraging.;) I only bathe once a week in it as I am somewhat obsessive compulsive and the thought of sitting in the water is just... :mad: I did shower every day with it and put on the cream all over my body because the salts dry me out. Now I just shower with it when I remember, but I keep using the cream and take it orally every day for the benefits it has.
I'm not assuring that this is also your case, 'cause I don't know you and don't know what you look like, but maybe you have the same problem as me and just don't know, considering that there are no symptoms!!

If after trying this, you see no results, there's still one thing you can try!!
A friend of mine (22 yrs) who had purple / blue / red-looking raccoon eyes with big visible veins got rid of them by taking 2 TABLEspoons of Black Strap Molasses daily. 1 First thing in the morning and 1 at night. She had read about it on earthclinic I think, but I'm not sure. Apparently Black Strap Molasses has a lot of good things in it which are ready to be absorbed by the body and don't need to be converted first as most vitamins do. Expect results after 3 weeks of taking it religiously. There is however a "negative" side to this. 1 Tablespoon of BSM contains around 50-60 calories and has a lot of sugar in it.
My friend hasn't stopped taking it for she is afraid if she stops, the raccoon eyes might return. So I can not say whether they do or don't come back if you stop taking it.

Well I am all for cheap and healthy alternatives! :) So I will try it. I think magnesium may be the reason epson salts work. So I'll check out the ingredients. Maybe I will try both, I am not concerned about calories it's not a double cheeseburger!:D Although they are definitely veins it certainly doesn't hurt to try! Okay an update from me, my name is Carlos , 32 and I live in Bristol, UK.

As mentioned before I've been talking to several doctors including DR Brooke Seckel, Boston.USA
DR Nick Lowe in London and also sclerotherapist in London called Phillip coleridge smith.

I have very thin skin with red purple showing through, also reticular veins are apparent, really adding to the darkness, and I have tear trough deformity.Basically I have a triple hitter! Very hard to treat. Here's what I'm up to...

I went to Boston in 2007 and saw Dr Seckel and he was very helpful (yes a long way to travel, but I want to solve the tired look) and had many suggestions, just wished I lived there and I wouldn't hesitate to use his services.

He suggested possible arcus marginalis release and fat transfer to solve the hollow/ shadow look and also IPL etc. Its just very difficult and expensive to travel there every 6 weeks or so to have the laser treatments.

I also went to see dr smith in london but regarding sclerotherapy for the veins under the eyes (dark blue veins not the red spider veins). He said he could remove the veins coming in from the temples and under the eye, but wasn't so sure about the inner corner of the eye, my main problem!), although he was willing to try. I haven't done it yet just because I'm scared of thrombosis of the cavernous sinus. But the option is there.

At the moment I am having expensive treatments with DR Lowe in London (although IO would have rather seen DR seckel as he specializes in Dark circles). So far I have had one cynosure treatment under one eye as a test and I'm going again next week.

The first treatment wasn't that painful and I had bruising for 3 weeks. It seemed to help a little with the spider veins and I think a slight improvement on collagen. The idea being if the collagen is stimulated enough it will thicken the skin and hide all dark colours and veins. I will keep you posted on what happens next.

One day I will sort this hopefully sooner than later as I just want to live my life and enjoy it.

I have the same problems. Blue veins, broken capillaries, dark circles... after reading tons and tons of info I've come to the conclusion that IPL, intense pulsed light is the way to go, at least for me.

I would recommend that all of you Google search "IPL dark circles" and go from there. Dr. Seckel highly recommends IPL and it is definitely safer than laser procedures. Lasers can be pretty dangerous. I've read some HORROR stories.

I'd never thought anyone else had this curse.

WELL, about a month ago I got fed up and did research. Tomorrow I have a treatment at the Berman Skin Institute.
