    Roper washing machine quit working.
A very basic Roper washing machine (just one dial, no frills, just pull out the dial, turn clockwise and push it back in, very basic) just quit on me. It is only 9 months old, but no warranty here. In the middle of a cycle, it just quit working. The tub is full of water, it agitated the clothes, and the water supply and electrical outlet are working correctly. Its acting as though it has no electricity. I took the back off (it resembles the direct drive model with no access panel and no easy way to open access to the transmission). The top comes where the dial is comes off easily. All the wires are connected firmly, none seem to be burned, arcing, etc. It looks very new under there. No matter what position I turn the dial, nothing happens. I wish I could find my multimeter, so I could check out where the electricity stops, but I can't find it right now. Where to start? Ive got some experience taking things apart and troubleshooting, but the back of this machine looks complicated. Wires, a timer with sensitive timing settings for each aspect of the cycles (even though I bought the most basic model). I just don't want to make the situation worse. Where Do I start?

If it does what you say then it could be that the lid switch that stops the spin cycle from working is defective. Jump out the lid switch and giv it a try. Nothing to loose by trying this out. If it is defective then you will have to replace it. It is a safety device.
