Gotcha on the door knobs, but you have to understand I was married to a man in the Navy for 20 years that was gone on 6 months cruises every time I turned around. You can always tell a Navy wife whose man is away because they linger in the produce department of the grocery store - usually around the cucumbers.

Ohhhh. Poor Emmy. Was that you? Oh dear! You made quite the spectacle of yourself. Now I understand. Thank you for explaining. Good thing you left when you did. The manager had called the police!

You know... I usually love kids.

But this particular niece is completely spoiled by her parents and grandparents. If she doesn't get her way, she starts shrieking until she does.

When she's at my house, with my rules, she gets a swat for that. I don't put up with that crap. I'm the adult, I make the rules, and she doesn't HAVE to like them.

But I've had a headache for over a week, and I'm just starting the barrage of tests I'll have to go through. I'll be damned if I'll put up with that little girl's shrieks, my house or not. It'll probably cause rifts within the family, and everyone will be pissed at me, but for heaven's sake---she's almost 4! She should know by now that there are rules, even if the only rules are no TV while eating, and food should be eaten at the table... that sort of thing.

That is funny because my in laws are the exact opposite of yours. My FIL is the sweetest kindest man I have ever met. I now call him Dad, which is a big step for me.

My mil is also nice, but she is manipulative. Nice one second and then turns on you on a dime. She talks nice to your face, but there is no follow through. And I firmly believe that she is jealous of the fact that I am with her son. I try really hard to please her... and that is tiring... and makes me want to mix a vodka and tonic.

My hubby tolerates my mom who has gotten to the point where she just kind of talks and talks and talks whether anyone is listening - or even in the room for that matter.

His mother is a hypocondriac (sp?) that doesn't talk about much besides her aches, pains and doctor's visits. She used to not like me much, but since my Brother in Law remarried - I am the Good DIL, and the new DIL is evil.

I lost my FIL last November - 59 years old to a heart attack. My dad died 2 years ago of stomach cancer. This will be the first year I don't have someone to mail a Father's Day card to.

Within my close group of friends my husband is the only one with his father still alive. And his father would go to Virginia to see his other son on Father's day. So that left all of us fatherless. So we all get together on Father's day and have an Fatherless Father's Day Picnic. It is kind of theraputic and a lot of fun at the same time.

Myth
May 24, 2007, 10:56 AM
I never knew who my dad was, or is. The only thing I know about him is his name. My mom was 15 when she got pregnant by a 25yr old and my grandpa ran him off. Then when I was about 6 maybe 7 my grandpa died so I didn't really grow up with a dad for fathers day. My family is 2300 miles away on the other side of the states. So the only family that's close is his mom and stepdad. Lifes funny like that I guess.

Yea, I already knew that. Just don't think about it. Just imagine what the disgruntled workers are doing to your food. In the factories and in the restaurants. I had a friend that found, what appeared to be, never mind.

Synnen

I have a pair of jeans... and I'm not joking about this...

I've patched the knees. Twice. I've sewn the tears around the pockets... ALL the way around the pockets. I have patches on the inner thighs where it's rubbed and a patch at the bottom of the crotch where the edge of the fly tore. I've replaced the button twice and can't use the pockets because I'm afraid the stitching won't hold.

The bottoms are frayed and torn, and I've had these jeans only 6 years.

I can barely squeeze into them since quitting smoking, and the back of the button catches on my navel ring... but I won't get rid of them like EVER.
