Amana Side by Side Refrigerator/Freezer and Freezer not cold enough, food thawing out and ice maker not making ice. Repairman told us this morning that there is not frost on the coils that can be seen from inside the freezer at the bottom. So there must be a blockage or leak in the refrigeration coils (?). Is this a problem that can be fixed by a homeowner or does this require a professional refrigerator repairman? Also is this an expensive repair, because the unit is 10 years old and the unit is well taken care of and looks new. Any help, instructions, or advise is greatly appreciated.. thanks rcobbett

If the repairman just told you there's no ice on the coils and then left, you need to find a new repairman. Is there any ice on the freezer coils that you can see? If so you may just have a defrost problem. If the coil has no ice at all and blowing it's warm air you need to answer s few questions, is the compressor running? Have you cleaned the condenser coil lately? If you don't hear the compressor running it could be that your thermostat has failed. If the compressors running, the condenser coil is clean, you then could have a refrigerant problem.
