Heading into COP30 ,Bill Gates ;one of the leading voices in the climate change religion , has broken ranks with the extremists . In a breakout essay Gates argues that resources fighting climate change are being wasted and should be redirected to more productive purposes.

He now says that climate change is not going to wipe out humanity. He argues that past efforts to achieve zero carbon emissions have made progress. But past investments fighting climate change have been misplaced, and too much good money has been put into expensive and questionable efforts.

There’s a doomsday view of climate change that goes like this:In a few decades, cataclysmic climate change will decimate civilization. The evidence is all around us—just look at all the heat waves and storms caused by rising global temperatures. Nothing matters more than limiting the rise in temperature.
Fortunately for all of us, this view is wrong.

A new approach for the world’s climate strategy | Bill Gates (https://www.gatesnotes.com/home/home-page-topic/reader/three-tough-truths-about-climate)

“This is a chance to refocus on the metric that should count even more than emissions and temperature change: improving lives. Our chief goal should be to prevent suffering, particularly for those in the toughest conditions who live in the world’s poorest countries.”

He's not quite there yet . He does not admit that climate change orthodoxy has been one of the biggest causes of human suffering . It stifles solutions that fall outside of it's fixed ideology . It wastes economic resources that could go to better uses .

The most shocking statement that should be a gut punch to the Goracles of the world is that using energy is a good thing because it means economic growth .That in itself solves many of the poverty issues in the world . “The biggest problems are poverty and disease, just as they always have been.” The push for zero use of carbon fuels contributes to human suffering in 3rd world nations.“.....it has made it harder for low-income countries to get low-interest loans for power plants that would bring reliable electricity to their homes, schools, and health clinics.”

The skeptic in me thinks maybe he is disappointed in the return of investment in the Goracle's carbon credit trading scheme. But if he is a true convert ;welcome to the club. Between this and Greta's shift from climate change to supporting Hamas terrorists the COP30 people are in for along November .

I'll say one thing for them . This year their conference will be in hot and humid Belém, Brazil. At least they don't have the threat of snow disrupting their message.

Figured out Gate's angle. It's all about the $money

He is heavily invested in AI and AI needs energy. In the long run he has a start up involving nuclear energy .
TerraPower's 345 MWe advanced nuclear reactor clears crucial hurdle (https://interestingengineering.com/energy/terrapower-nuclear-reactor-gets-us-approval)

But short of that ;the only way to compete in AI is the use fossil fuels .

Even Nantucket says F---it Dem Reps Mark Cusak from Nantucket wants to roll back the State emissions from a mandate to a suggestion

Wednesday’s vote is the first sign that Cusack’s legislation, which would cut the state’s energy efficiency program and could render its 2030 climate mandate unenforceable, has some legs among Democrats, many of whom voted for those goals just four years ago, and is gaining traction in the House.

Did not know this . Brazil carved out an 8 mile section of the rain forest and constructed a $1.2 billion 4 lane highway so the attendees of COP30 could drive their limos from the airport where they parked their private jets to the conference.

What have thirty UN climate conferences accomplished since 1995? The answer is “no measurable climate benefit.” Since 2000, the world has spent about $10 trillion on renewable energy, but hydrocarbons─coal, natural gas, and oil─still provided 87% of world energy in 2024
