Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir gave out guns to community security squads throughout Israel to help in the defense of the nation .In 2nd amendment lingo that is "a well armed militia" . As I have argued there is no difference between an armed militia and an armed citizenry .

. Let a regular army, fully equal to the resources of the country, be formed; and let it be entirely at the devotion of the federal government; still it would not be going too far to say, that the State governments, with the people on their side, would be able to repel the danger. The highest number to which, according to the best computation, a standing army can be carried in any country, does not exceed one hundredth part of the whole number of souls; or one twenty-fifth part of the number able to bear arms. This proportion would not yield, in the United States, an army of more than twenty-five or thirty thousand men. To these would be opposed a militia amounting to near half a million of citizens with arms in their hands, officered by men chosen from among themselves, fighting for their common liberties, and united and conducted by governments possessing their affections and confidence. It may well be doubted, whether a militia thus circumstanced could ever be conquered by such a proportion of regular troops. Those who are best acquainted with the last successful resistance of this country against the British arms, will be most inclined to deny the possibility of it. Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation.....

But the administration has an issue with it. They threatened to cut off weapons supplies if they were distributed to Israeli citizens,

As Ben-Gvir said ;
“I’m telling you, dear citizens: a handgun can save a family, a rifle can save an entire building”

As I have argued there is no difference between an armed militia and an armed citizenry .You are correct. An armed citizenry is a solid protection against an aggressive incursion by a foreign power. It is also a great protection against tyrannical government which is part of the reason the liberal dems want to see us all armed with not much more that pop guns.

Try as they might ,they will never be able to ban guns . This year Americans purchased 15.8 million guns. The FBI reported that they performed 29.8 million back round checks for potential gun buyers .

Last month was the 53rd consecutive month where gun sales went over 1 million .

Five percent of Americans said they bought a gun for the first time during the pandemic, which is a huge number,” Roman said. “Those buyers were younger, they were more likely to be renters, they were more likely to be women, they were more likely to be people of color.”

The FBI reported that they performed 29.8 million back round checks for potential gun buyers .No doubt meaning that FBI computers performed background checks. I bought a gun a year or two ago to use to shoot snakes. When I filled out the form, it was on an iPad. I have no doubt that a computer took a tenth of a second to make sure that all of the boxes were checked in the appropriate manner and that I had no criminal record.

Gun control now comes down to trying to decide if the so-called assault weapons can be sold. Banning their sale accomplishes virtually nothing other than to allow pols to walk about bragging about their noble efforts to control gun violence.

Ammunition, not guns, should be banned.

It's funny you suggest that. The practice amongst many gun owners is to stack up a thousand rounds or more of ammo with the anticipation that the federal loons might try that very tactic.

not a surprise . ammo prices soared last year and there is a shortage. This is due to conflicts overseas ;the increase in gun ownership ; hoarding and election year jitters Politicians threaten all types of bans . So people start panic buying . 2024 is going to be rough for ammo buyers .
