This is what the Brandon economy means for seniors who have no income ;and have had to deal with inflation we have not seen since the 1970s Carter reign .. I am fast approaching my bottom line # The 1st# represents my days loss , The 2nd number represents my loss since my mandatory conversion of my 401-K to an IRA . I put aside some assets in short term Treasuries that I hope will last until I tap into Social Security . Wish me luck /
Day's loss $684.48 Loss since inception $50,052
this on top of an inflation rate that erodes my spending power
Trust me I am just pointing out facts with the realization that there are many worse off than me .

None of the Repub candidates adequately addressed the core problem of entitlement solvency.
The Repubs played lip service to the problem during the debate . But the one closest to the truth was Christie.
He said to avoid insolvency in Social Security the options are raise taxes which he correctly called a non-starter ; increase the eligibility age ;or reduce benefits.
He then called for a reevaluation of the purpose of the program. He correctly pointed out that the purpose of the program was to prevent poverty for the elderly. He questioned why the rich and well off are even eligible to receive the SS benefits. He pointed out that people who contribute through taxation are not necessarily entitled to receive other safety net benefits. He basically called for a means testing approach.
That would be a much fairer approach than raising taxes.
In my opinion there should also be either an opt out option for young workers or an option to self invest the money taken out of the payroll for the program.
Vivek was correct in pointing out that long term solutions do not deal with the short term funding issues. But that is as far as he went ,offering no solutions .
Nikki agreed in principle with Christie's long term reforms .
DeSantis ;Scott ;and Trump apparently disagree with any changes.
Scott said seniors deserve to get their money back . But Ponzi schemes don't work that way. The seniors like me paid for our parents retirement. The burden for our retirement falls on the generation that we have strapped with over $30 trillion in debt(and we have snuffed 63 million of them before birth)
DeSantis nonsensically said that the average age expectancy is getting lower. I guess that means problem solved .He has a lot of geezers in his state so he can't really speak the truth .
Trump throws spit balls from the sideline and panders.
