Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy says America is having an identity crisis .
We’re in the midst of a national identity crisis. Faith, patriotism & family are disappearing. We embrace one secular religion after another – from wokeism to climatism – to satisfy our deeper need for meaning. Yet we cannot even answer what it means to be an American.

A new WSJ poll confirms it .

Microsoft Word - WSJ_NORC Topline March2023.docx (https://s.wsj.net/public/resources/documents/WSJ_NORC_ToplineMarc_2023.pdf)

Patriotism, faith ,having children and other former national priorities that helped define what it meant to be American are receding in importance according to the poll.
WSJ conducted the poll with NORC at the University of Chicago.

38% said patriotism was very important to them, and 39% said religion was very important. When WSJ first surveyed in 1998, 70% said patriotism was very important, and 62% said religion was very important.

I think this is a product of the education system. When kids are taught at a young age that America from before it's creation was a bad country .then we should not be surprised when kids believe it . The children who were first taught this have now grown to be the teachers ,the political leaders ,the woke business captains ,the media ,the entertainers .

Just found Ramaswamy's editorial on the WSJ poll .

The USA is experiencing a crisis of faith — in itself (nypost.com) (https://nypost.com/2023/03/27/the-usa-is-experiencing-a-crisis-of-faith-in-itself/)

To insist that a perfect conformity to the ideal is the only acceptable outcome is childish. Of course our country was imperfect, being composed of people as it was. To expect otherwise is foolishness.

Madison wrote in Federalist Papers 51 .....

But what is government itself, but the greatest of all reflections on human nature? If men were angels, no government would be necessary. If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.

It's time for governing by sane, intelligent women.

There are some fine women leaders who would be excellent Presidents . The issue isn't gender or race. This issue is about leadership . One example is Jimmy Carter claiming a national malaise . But the malaise was in his leadership .It did not take long for Reagan to boost America's confidence.
