No. The fan has NOT come loose from the ceiling. It is a free standing patio fan. There are 4 wires going from the fan motor to the light kit. Red, yellow, pink, white. The red and yellow are still attached with wire nuts, red to red and yellow to gray. The white and pink have come loose. I can't tell where they came from. If I touch the white wire to the other collection of white wires, the fan begins to turn. But where does the pink one go? Both the white and pink wires will shock me when touched by themselves. Help

OK, then why did you title your post "Pink wire in ceiling fan"?

Connect the whites to the other whites. Impossible to tell from here, where the pink goes. Put a wire nut on the pink. See what functions and what does not. Can you post a picture? How many bulbs in the light kit? Is fan multispeed. How many positions on light switch?

Sorry.

Yes free standing patio fan. Fan has 3 speeds and reverse switch. Light kit has 3 bulbs. One pull on light chain turns on 1 bulb. Second pull turns off the 1 bulb and the other 2 on. Third pull on the chain turns on all 3 bulbs. Fourth pull turns all bulbs off. I have 2 great pics on this iPad but can't paste them

Bet if you look hard enough you will find another pink wire.

Nope. Only red, yellow, brown, gray, purple, blue, and a turquoise ground

I'll try your idea of putting white with other whites and cap off the pink. Put fan back together and see what function doesn't work.
