Hello,

I purchased a universal toilet supply line to fix my leaking toilet water. It fit perfectly except that it was too long (my first attempt at fixing this issue). So I purchased a shorter on that isn't universal and doesn't come with extra 'fittings'. My issue now is that I don't know how to remove the fitting that went to the other line. Can anyone tell me how to do so? I was using channel locks but this doesn't seem to do anything but slide around. Thanks in advance. Here's the link to the line that had the fittings.

Any chance you can post a picture, from your description I can not tell you what is wrong. Why can't you remove the fittings from the other, wrong line? Both you valve/shut off and the cap under the tank are both male fittings, all fitting that are associated with the supply tube are female.

Can't tell what the adapters are but are probably nylon bushings and you probably over tighten them when installing. That would strip the threads of the bushing and they will not screw off. Try cutting the off with a utility knife. Try heating with hair dryer and prying between the bushing and the valve. Heating would also make cutting easier. Cutting

I took a picture but it didn't come out all that great. It is basically a short pipe coming through the floor with the turn off value on top of that. We're talking very old plumbing in a fix it upper. All metal. Here is a photo of one of the extra adapter/fittings that came with the screw on metal supply line. Then on top of the valve there's a screw on pipe to hook the supply line to and then under the tank. The adapter/fitting is just a round metal things with screw threads inside and outside. Why not simply use then or original supply and just pot an loop in it to take up the slack? Regards, Tom

Thank you Tom. I am limited here in my experience and knowledge. Not even sure what a loop is. The top tie in that goes to the tank actually has another adapter for a Bidet. Can you explain please in layman terms what a loop looks like? Thanks in advance.

When we have a flexible toilet supply that's too long we loop the hose to shorten it like this, Good luck, Tom
