I live in Georgia. I just discovered today when I went to the property tax records that there were liens against my property. There was not a judgment in either lien. Can a lien be put on your property records without a judgment? I told the clerk in the property records room that neither of these leins had a judgment but she said there was nothing she could do. I do not want to get into expensive litigation for claims & liens put on my property that have no validity. What can I do on my own?

Who filed the liens? IRS, for example, can lien by sending you a notice or letter if you don't respond. They don't need to get a Judgment.

I was checking my property tax records when I saw there were 2 liens on my property. I live in the state of Georgia. Neither lien had a judgment. I thought that to file a lien on your property someone had to have a judgment. When I told the clerk in the [property tax office neither one of these liens had a judment she said there was nothing she could do. What can I do on my own without an attorney to get these removed. I do not want to go to the expense of hiring an attorney. Do not the clerks have to have a judment to enter a lien on your property tax records?

Depends on the nature of the liens. Have you contacted the lien holders?

There are all sorts of involuntary liens other than judgment liens, including:
IRS lien (as mentioned),
state tax lien perhaps, and
mechanic's or materialman's lien,
to name a few.
