Hi,
I am an international student on F1 visa and studying in united states since August 2001. I am currently a resident alien for tax purposes only. I have a question, as I am supposed to fill form 1040 and not 1040 NR EZ, should I file form 8843 along with the 1040 form or not? I understand that if you are a non resident alien then you have to fill the form 8843, but since I am a resident alien (of course only for tax purposes) should I still fill the form and submit it?
Thanks for any advice,

Residents do not need to fill in that form --- it's for people on F1 claiming exemption from the SPT.

Hi,
Thank you very much for the advice. By the way what is SPT?
Thank you again

SPT = Substantial Presence Test. It helps determine whether you are a resident.
