I have a Symmons Temptrol tub/shower valve. In trying to replace the spindle and the valve seats, I have been unable to remove the bigger valve seat. In fact I have probably stripped it and will need an easy out.

#1 What size easy out do I need? Will I damage anything else with the easy out?

#2 Will it come out easier if I put some heat to it?

Hi Ron

Did you get the seat removal tool specifically sold for removing the temptrol seat unit? If not, well, they sell specific seat removal tools at all plumbing supply stores that I of. I even think home depot and Lowe's sells them... ;)

Pick up the cold seat removal tool (larger of the two seat removal tools) and try that out.

I can't speak to the easy out or heating the unit... never tried it as I would just remove the valve and replace it with a new one if the seats wouldn't come out.

Back to you...

Mark
