Hi, I took a 21-day pill and had my period on time as indicated exactly 5 days after the last tablet but it was light and lasted for 5 days, my last day of period was Nov. 12 and after a week, Nov. 21 I am having a brownish discharge again of blood up until today Nov. 23 I am bleeding. Could this possibly be a hormonal imbalance or could I be pregnant? I have abstained from sex because I'm in a long distance relationship, the last day we had sex was on Oct. 13 and I immediately took the pill on the 14th I ended on Nov. 3 without missing any tablet but I kind of had 2 tablets late by 5 minutes and 20 minutes. Could this bleeding be because I din't take my next packet (because I am not having sex anymore) or could I possibly be preggy even if I had my period on time? I'm kind of puzzled so if anyone could answer this, I'll appreciate it! Thank you.

Hi Jan25... welcome to AMHD... :)

Since you were taking your pills on schedule it is most likely due to ending them and thus a change in hormone levels. That you had your period on time also makes it likely to be the cause.

Of course pregnancy is possible, even when taking birth control pills. See what happens when your period is due for December.

Hey, DoulaLC thanks for that warm welcome! Never thought someone would actually answer me! I would also try to help others especially when I am sure of my answers! :)

Anyway, you are right I can't do anything but to wait, AGAIN. I have waited for me to finish the pills and I've waited for my period, it's just kind of frustrating because I could never afford having baby this young. I can't even tell my parents they'll probably kill me! If I have my spotting this time, my period would still be the same date next month, I mean I am on a regular menstruation so my period calendar says I would have my period on the 11th or on that week so it would/should be that way so I can be sure I am not pregnant, right? Or there can be a delay or early period because of the hormonal imbalance?

I'm sorry if this is too long, I just can't talk to someone right now regarding this. I can't even buy PT because they will find out for sure. UGH. Thanks again! :)

It may be off since you have just stopped the pill, but it is very individual. Some people keep right on track afterwards. See what happens. If it doesn't show when you expect it to, give it an extra week in case it is just off. Try a pregnancy test at that point if necessary.

You can always come here to talk/ask questions... plenty of helpful people around... :) And feel free to offer support to others when you can.
