I am attempting to file both NY and NJ taxes this year. I work in NJ and lived there for the first 7 months of this year, then moved to NY. I can file NY taxes as a part-year resident, but have to pick either full resident or non-resident for NJ. Which should I choose?

Also, the NY part-year resident form asks me to tally up wages earned only while living in NY. Do I still do that if I check non-resident on the NJ forms?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Pick the resident return. There is a portion of the form that allows you to dedisgnate that you were a part-year resident.

Yes, complete the part-year NY resident form.
