My dog is pooping and peeing in the house, i also have 4 cats could that be why?he was house broke for awhile.

Jealousy can be a reason, not letting him out enough can be, lack of attention from you can be. Dogs have very different needs from cats. Take him out for two or more walks a day, and play catch alone with him, or even find a park with other dogs to play with.

While jealousy could be a contributing factor, there is also the dominence factor. He smells that the other 4 cats are using the bathroom indoors (much like marking their territory) and he needs to assert the home as his as well. Are the cats new house members or have they always been there? Is your dog spayed or neutered? There is also the possibility of a bladder, kidney or urinary infection.

If it is in fact behavioral I would go back to basics. As soon as your dog has eaten or drank anything he goes out doors, when he does his business out there, you praise like mad. Make sure you are cleaning the area with a good enzyme neutralizer. Vinegar and water work great. If your dog spends a lot of time playing with the cats, as soon as he is done playing, take him out door to do his business.

When is your dog messing the most in the house? While you are away or while you are in the home? Do you crate while you are away? And has the dog been de-wormed?
