Here's a little story worthy of some attention.

Once upon a time I went to the 7th grade, I saw a boy from my class on his way home from school, His name was Morten and it looked like he was carrying all of his books. I was thinking what a geek, why would he carry all of those books back and forth.

My weekend was planned (Party in the evening and soccer with the guys the day after) so I shrugged As I was leaving, I saw a lot of kids running towards him. They ran into him, knocked the books out of his arms and pushed him to the ground. His glasses fell off and I noticed, they landed in the grass 3-4 feet from him.

He looked up and I saw incredible sadness in his eyes. I felt sorry for him, so I went over to him as he crawled around looking for his glasses, and I saw tears in his eyes.
When I handed him his glasses, I said, "Those kids are idiots, they should get a life!"
He looked at me and said "Hey, Thanks!" There was a huge smile on his face. It was one of those smiles that showed real gratitude.

I helped him pick up his books and asked where he lived. It turned out he lived near me so I asked why I had never seen him before. He said he had gone to private school before. I would normally never have been with one from a private school. We talked all the way home and I helped to carry his books. He proved to be a pretty cool guy.

I asked if he wanted to play some soccer with me and my friends. He said yes!
We hung out all weekend and the more I got to knew Morten, the more I liked him and my friends felt the same way.

Monday morning came and there was Morten with the huge stack of books again. I stopped him and said, "Man, you gotta get some huge muscles with that pile of books everyday!"
He just laughed and gave me half the books. Over the next 3 years, Morten and I was best friends. When we were in the 9th grade, we began to think about what we wanted to do with our life. Morten decided to study in Aarhus, and I was going to Copenhagen. I knew we would always be best friends, and that the distance would not be a problem.

He wanted to become a doctor and I wanted to be in sales.
Morten was chosen to be the speaker of our school graduation, I teased him about being a geek and the fact that he had to speak, but was thankful that it wasent me.

Graduation day - I was looking at Morten, he looked very handsome, he had grown into a fine young man, even his glasses looked great on him.
He was dating more than I, and all the girls loved him. Man, sometimes I was jealous! Today was one of those days I could tell he was nervous about his speech. Well, I thumped him on his back and said, "Hey buddy, it's going to be fine!"

He looked at me with that look (the really grateful one) and smiled. "Thanks!" he said. When he was about to start his speech, he cleared his throat and started; "School closure is a time we must thank those who helped one through the tough years. Your parents, your teachers, your siblings, maybe a coach, but most of all your friends. I'm here to tell you all that to be a good and true friend to somebody can change their lifes. I would like to tell you my story."

I just looked with an Incredulously stare at my friend as he was telling his story about the first day we met.

He had planned to commit suicide over the weekend, he told of how he had emptied out his closet at school so his mother wouldent have to do it later, so he packed up all his stuff to take it home with him.

He looked at me and sent me a little smile. "Fortunately I was rescued. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable." I heard the gasp go through the whole assembly, as this handsome, popular young man told us all about his life's weakest moment.

I saw his mom and dad look at me with the same grateful smile that Morten had given me on that same day. Not until that moment did I understand the depth of my action that day.

Never underestimate the impact of your actions. With one small gesture you can change a person's life. For better or for worse. We're all put in this world to make our mark on the people around us. Look for the good in others and treat them kindly and with respect - someday you might help to save a life.

It's original danish this story, from where I got it. But I liked it so much I translated into english, but unfortunately my english isn't the very best, and my writing skills or the skills to clean up a story isn't the very best either, so if anyone would like to clean it up to make it sound like the incredible story it really is ;)

Then we can perhaps share it abit throughout our peers. :)
