My parents who in their 80's could no longer make mortgage payments and therefore I paid off the 7,000 balance so they would be free of finances and be able to move to a town closer to their other children. I put up the house for sale but am told that there was a judgement filed in 2008 from a credit card company. The credit card is no longer in business and all it shows that the judgement is for $5,534.37 which includes principal of $3,034.97 + $714.92 court costs and $1,517.48 attorneys fees. Why wasn't this brought up before I bought the house and why must I pay for this? How can I remove this judgement?

The Attorney(s) who handled the transaction didn't run a title search?

You must pay it because it's attached the real estate. Anyone who bought the property would be responsible for paying it.

You remove it by paying it off.
