Hello:

Yeah, I'm talking about Republicans... During the recess, they got an earful from the old, and those planning to become old. Turns out, that's most everybody.. So, for the time being the Republicans are not going to destroy Medicare.

How about Medicaid, Pell Grants, Food Stamps and Head Start?? Nahhh. They still want to cut those... It seems that, while people plan to get old, they don't plan to get poor, so the poor don't have much of a lobby. Plus, the poor don't vote like the old do.

All but 7 House Republicans voted to dismantle Medicare and the attack ads are in the works... Poor Republicans... They put their careers on the line and got NOTHING to show for it. I think they should have stuck with jobs..

They'll be destroyed in the next election. Welcome back Congressman Alan Grayson.

Much of it was contrived by the left, trying to make their own 'grassroots' protests at town halls. They sucked at it. Paul Ryan got a standing O (http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/video-paul-ryan-gets-standing-ovation-town-hall-meeting_558453.html) and Allen West put the hecklers in their place (http://republicanredefined.com/2011/04/27/allen-west-to-heckler-youre-not-going-to-intimidate-me/).

Wasn't so long ago that Madame Mimi denigrated such meetings as 'astroturf'.

I assume you mean Medicaid .

When the Clintoons changed "welfare as we know it "that wasn't considered a measure to "destroy " welfare. Nice try but that spin don't work for Medicaid either .

Politics is the art of the possible. The Republican leadership have not given up on the Ryan plan. However they do realize that at this time their plan would neither be passed by the Senate or signed by the President. It is unclear if they can convince the TP Republicans to bend.
The Dems still control 2 of the 3 branches (according the Schumer) of government . Since they will not budge on this issue the Republicans needed to move on.
If Medicaid reform is possible then they should go for it. I think they should make so positive moves towards growing the economy by working on tax reform .

I would not give up totally on Medicare. I'd pass a version of the Ryan plan every week and force the Senate to vote it down ;or the President to veto it . But it is clear that not much will happen on that front until after 2012 when more TP Republicans get voted in ;the Republicans take over the Senate ,and the White House.

It IS true. Liberals are so much nicer than angry right wingers...

But, you're not saying, are you, that your stuff wasn't contrived by D*ck Armey and his gang?? Really?? Dude.

LOL, that's not what I said. I said they sucked at it. Liberals are definitely NOT much nicer at it, they're loud and obnoxious and throw lots of hissy fits.

I went to a Tea Party rally once, it wasn't contrived by anyone but a few locals.

Personally, I would really like to yell at a Democrat! What is it with people who can't understand that when the money runs out, something has to be given up? My wife and I have had a lifetime of making income and outgo equal out over the long run. All we ask is for our elected representatives to do the same. And you are right, I AM old and I DO vote!
