Clicking the remote for the light dims the light, not turn it off. I believe the model number is 20481-300. Is the problem solved by replacing one or both of the capacitors (sp?) inside the light housing? Is it a bad remote? Battery is OK.

Capacitor has nothing to do with the light, just the starting of the motor. Before we start taking anything apart try this. Press and hold the light button down for about 5 seconds. Does the light button now operate any differently?

Thanks for the quick reply! I tried what you stated and it worked as a dimmer to about 1/3 lighting then popped back to bright.

Try again but hold for 10 seconds

Same results. I held it down for four cycles without letting up and same result. I turned off the wall switch and then back on with the button depressed, same result again.

Tell me about the little red light on the hand held. Does it light and stay lite when you hold the button down?

Green light (whatever) stays on when depressed. The fan buttons work fine with the hand held too. Hand held model Number is 27185, which probably doesn't mean anything. Again, thanks for your reply!

Last step before we think about a new remote. Open both the canopy and the hand hels. Both will have about 9 dip switches, move all switches to OFF, now try it. Inside the canopy is the reciver and you mat have to ook hard to see those dip switches
